“There is no way out.” He reached up and took a lock of her hair in his hands and rubbed it between his fingers. It slid like silk between his rough, dark fingers. “You’re so beautiful. I was afraid you’d be hideous.”

“Too bad the prophecy didn’t choose someone else.” She was stiff with fear of where his hand might go next. His nearness greatly unsettled her.

He arched his eyebrows in surprise. “Oh, you know about that?”

“Yes, we just found it.”

“What else do you know?” His gaze bore into her hers as he leaned in.

“Just the prophecy. I have no idea who you are or where you came from.” She met his gaze with determination that belied the fear inside of her. He might want her virginity, but she was prepared for death afterward if not before.

Creeper, having a hard time controlling himself, snorted and walked away from her. Here she was, his for the taking. No one to stop him. But he didn’t want to rush it. Then again, time was of the essence.
