As he watched all of his plans vanish before his eyes, he screamed. The anguished sound shot through the forest. Tahnee, on the porch listening for some kind of sign, stopped breathing as the sound tore at her chest. Something had gone horribly wrong.
She had just stepped back so casually. He didn’t think she’d actually do it. But as he watched, she walked back and began to fall. Her silver hair floated up around her face and stared at him with such determination. In a flash, she disappeared from sight. He raced to the edge and watched as the raging water swallowed up her body. He couldn’t allow her to deny him. He couldn’t let her die.
