A New Target

After lunch, Grey and his family made their way back to the woods where they took over guarding of their family who were still within the cabin ensconced in love. Everything was quiet. All seemed right, but their guard was not lowered. They knew they were up against something that played by its own rules. He could strike at any moment. No longer was Brenna the only one in danger. Slaton was just as much of a target now.

The sun dipped below the horizon leaving the woods embraced in darkness. Crickets issued up a chorus to those who relentlessly moved and watched. Small scurrying animals came out and stayed away from the cabin. Too many predatory animals were prowling about. Attention on the cabin or not, the animals were not taking a chance.
