For the next few days, all was quiet. Not even dark dreams at night appeared to disrupt their sleep. Slaton tried to connect with Brenna telepathically but was still unable to. He couldn’t understand what was happening. He could when she was connected to the Creeper. She was able to hear Tahnee the day they tried to kill the demon. For some reason, Brenna had a barrier up that even she couldn’t see. No one could get through. He would focus on her while helping around the house. He tried to connect with her while she slept. Every attempt was unsuccessful. He only met up with a mental brick wall.


Brenna and Tahnee worked on wedding reception invites while the men patrolled. Only Slaton was not allowed to go with the pack. He was stuck in the house trying to stay busy and not let himself go crazy. He was not one to be cooped up, but knowing the danger that awaited Brenna if he did go out kept him in check.
