Layford was coming back from a run as he transformed into his human body. Knowing he was a full member of the pack brought him out of his funk. Things were beginning to look up after all. It felt good to once again race across the ground and through the trees. The pack thought he was up to it. He would prove them right. He was determined not to let anyone down again.
Stepping out of the trees, Layford looked down the road and groaned. Miakoda was walking from his house in the direction of where he was. She was just the person he’d like to avoid at that moment. He had never known such a know-it-all. As his mood was getting better, he had to face her. After what she had said the night of the party, he would rather not see her. Layford wanted to disappear back into the woods, but he saw by her reaction that she had already seen him. He was kicking himself for not coming out into the open closer to home. It was too late now. She was within walking distance to him.
