More Surprises

Three days before the event, Brenna woke up and laid in the bed enjoying the sunshine pouring into the room. Slaton had gotten up earlier to help his dad with chores around the house. There was so much still to be done, but she was being just a little bit lazy. Brenna smiled as she thought of how such a small event had grown so much. Suddenly, nausea hit her. Shoving the blankets aside, she jumped up and ran into the bathroom barely making it. As she heaved until there was nothing left and continued to heave, she cried out.

Within seconds, she felt cool hands on her forehead. She managed to stop throwing up and set back against the tub. The coolness helped to ease the seasick feeling that had her head swimming. Tahnee wet a washcloth to wipe Brenna’s face with. Her eyes watched Brenna carefully. Concern stamped on her forehead.

“Better?” she asked Brenna after the heaving stopped and her color began to come back.

Brenna nodded. “I hope I don’t have the flu.”
