Camp

They went on foot pulling the horse along by the reins. They were unsure how much further they had to go, but the horse wasn’t going the whole way. Brenna had seen in a dream that eventually it would be too rocky and uneven to take the horse to their final destination. At least Thunder could help them through most of the journey.

Slaton looked at his watch, noting how little time they had until sunset. They had been walking for four hours. He kept glancing at Brenna for any sign of weariness. He was concerned for her and the baby, but she kept on trudging. The pace was not too fast. He deliberately made it so. She wouldn’t listen to him about sitting on the horse, but she couldn’t argue with him about the pace.
