Too Much

The pack explored every inch of the mountain throughout the day. They found nothing out of the ordinary aside from the charred area several yards from the rising mass of rock. There was no cave. There was no opening to be found. They couldn’t find anything that indicated how the others entered the mountain. It was a complete mystery to them. If they hadn’t trusted Sakari so completely, they’d have questioned whether or not they were in the right place.

Grey shook his wolf head as he sniffed the ground. They had to trust Sakari; she had never failed them yet. Everything had been the way she had said it would be. So far, they had found no bodies, nothing but a backpack. That confirmed that the group had been there. It didn’t help explain what had happened to cause them to leave the backpack and what caused the charred remains. That remained a mystery.
