Tahnee and Grey had moved until their horses were about to drop. They knew they could have made better time transformed but the supplies were needed. There was no other way to get them to the kids if they had moved on their own and not used the horses. That also meant they were in more danger every second of the day.
As night descended, they pushed on until Grey sensed the strength of the horses weakening. He found a spot quickly to camp and got a fire started. Tahnee had protested the fire.
“Should we really do that? It could draw attention to us.”
Grey snorted. “With Jolon, the fire wouldn’t make a difference. We might as well get comfortable. When he comes, he comes and we won’t be able to stop him.”
Tahnee shuddered. Grey was right, and she knew it. She just wanted to get to the mountain as quickly as possible. Every second was tearing at her heart.
