The Boy Who Lives In Future

I took Ryan to the hospital. He was dehydrated and lost consciousness because of that. His family appeared after a few minutes he was admitted. His grandparents were old, not as much as mine but old enough. As he came around, he asked to see me, I went in and at the same time a girl came running into the hallway. She pushed her way in and immediately hugged Ryan.

Ryan just sat like that for a few minutes and when the girl got up, turned to me and asked, "so, you got the card from the old man after visiting the grave, didn't you?" everyone stared at me. Nervously, I said, "yes..."

All his family thanked me as they left the room. He stopped me and the girl as we were leaving.

The girl was the same age as Ryan; she had dark brown hair, which reached her waist. She had slim glasses and was wearing a jacket on her t-shirt and jeans. "Jessica", she introduced herself and punched Ryan on the head telling him to be more careful, then apologized immediately. Ryan told me that she was his girlfriend. They were better than any clingy teen couples I knew.

Ryan asked how much I knew about him. After all the formal talk he told me about his condition. His body was prone to dehydration and he was supposed to have a short life span. The doctor told him that he wasn't supposed to live up to 20 years of age. Jessica got up, and said "you're such an-"-irresponsible person." Completed Ryan.

Ryan told me about how he had dreamed about his whole family dying like his father, every night for a month. He decided to get this off his chest by writing it down in his book. Then he released it as fiction. But as other incidents were true, people interpreted it as a threat and started to neglect him. Only a few people trusted him, Jessica was one of them. Both of them were classmates but rarely talked, until he had a breakdown after his father died. Out of his whole class, she was the only one to console him. They are together since then, even her parents agreed to their marriage. His condition is only shared with his family and Jessica, now with me.

Soon grandpa called me asking where I was, told her that I was on the way. I requested everyone there to keep it a secret and I rushed home. I didn't tell anyone here about what happened at the park.

As summer was over, I went back to college. I got my diploma in July. Soon I applied for teaching job, but all in vain. All the schools in the city had full staff. So I applied for a job in my hometown, and got a job. It was a substitute teacher for math as well as homeroom teacher of 12th standard.

The session stared and I was the teacher of the class where Ryan was enrolled.....
