The Class

Ryan and his class were very unique. No one seemed to talk to each other, totally focused on their study. Maybe this is also the reason Ryan told me that he and Jessica never talked to each other.

They were sitting in opposite corners. I was their homeroom teacher too, so I was very much able to observe the whole class. But it was baffling that they were not friendly at all. Everyone was obedient, almost too much. They always completed never made any noise; every single one of them. Once the class was over, I went to the staff room and talked about the behavior of the class.

They told me the class previously had a very strict homeroom and math teacher. They were excellent students & he didn't wish for them to spoil as they grow up. He never let them fail in any subject. He was always watching over them, always consulting and cheering them up. This year he died from a road accident. His car was crushed by few cars that then fled the scene of the crime. The police were unable to track the cars and the case is still open. He had no family; his funeral was attended by his student's families and other school staff. This happened when school was closed during the summer.

After school I asked Ryan about the incident, he got upset and told me that the old man was the only witness of the accident. The same old man who handed me Ryan's card when I was getting here early summer. Unfortunately, he died from pneumonia last month. I then investigated about the date and time of the accident. I had an unusual feeling of hope, you may call it a hunch.

I went to my home and after lunch, I checked all the CCTV footage of said date, and for sure, it was the night before I first met Ryan. Before the puppy arrived from the bush; there were three cars on camera. Although blurry, the license plates were visible...
