Mutated stones

Dean finished documenting and examining the bodies of the spiders. He first drew an outline of the fully grown widows and a short summary of their limbs and mutations. He then drew a more refined drawing of a specific limb and wrote more information, weight, hardness and some rough ideas on what he could use them for; such as making armor or another weapon like widows fury.

He had dissected most of the corpses and since it was his first time he had had to bin most of them. He mostly did this to get a more detailed drawing on it's muscle and organ systems, creatures that had mutated such drastic changes should display some imperfections and Dean wanted to learn about that. He was by no means smart in that field but he was learning from Kim Hannah's notes, he was happy to grind and learn new strategies to defeat foes. It was something he enjoyed in most games, learning how to beat monsters easily by attacking their flaws.

'This should be enough…fuu…I need to start moving and check on the corpses'

Dean shut the book.

'There's also this'

He focused in front of him and slowly space started to contort. It was similar to his ring portals but the only difference was that Dean hadn't made another portal to connect this to.

Slowly a tear in space appeared leaving what looked like a slash in reality. It distorted the surroundings but didn't do anything else of interest. Dean frowned and thought.

'Should I check what's on the other side?'

Sigh

He picked up a corpse of a spiderling he had dissected and threw it inside the spacial tear. Dean watched as the spiderling disappeared inside it and watched for any noticeable changes. He was being extra careful as he wasn't sure where this went. He could sense through his portals as they were in his surroundings but this rift was like a bottomless pit of unknowns to him.

Dean had grown accustomed to knowing everything in his surroundings and now this rift was causing his senses to be unable to read in its area. It was a hole had appeared in his perfect surveillance and that caused Dean to be scared that he didn't know what could come from it.

Dean pulled out a leg of a spider from the rift and firmed his resolve.

'It should be fine, all the tests suggest that its safe'

Slowly Dean. He put his hand through and breathed deeply as nothing happened, he continued in. Inside the rift Dean was surprised, he was now in a 'room'. He was slightly surprised to see that he was exactly where he was before entering the rift, the only major difference was that everything was inverted. The world had grown dimmer as well but looking closely Dean noticed that the corpses of spiderlings he had thrown in were their usual colour. Dean tried to walk out of the area but was pushed back by semi transparent walls that surrounded him. The walls spanned roughly 10 meters which left ample moving room.

'Another dimension?'

He thought to himself

'A mirror dimension'

Dean exited the rift and had some thoughts.

'I evolved further, was it because of the stone 'it' forced me to eat…is 'it' something similar to why the stone giant wanted to mutate stronger?'

Dean was referring to the will that had forcibly taken control of his body. It was pretty simple to judge that the stone he had eaten had further enhanced his powers. Although his strength stayed roughly the same and he could still only control a pair of portals, he felt refreshed like his body was more energetic.

Dean took out his book again and wrote something in the "Further experiment required" section.

=========================

Stone found in mutated

Theory: Virus is condensed and is solidified in a shape of a stone of which can enhance Evolver's strength upon ingestion.

Unknown of side effects.

Only strong and original mutated have these stones?

==========================

Dean theorised up to that point. Firstly the fact that none of the female black widows offspring or partner had a stone was strange. The male widow was mutated through the female widows DNA which was why he had a weaker form of her poison. Dean also thought the same of the spiderlings, they weren't fully matured and their qualities were further weakened, becoming almost non-existent. Dean had only confirmed that they had a sack which housed the liquid inside them by all the dissections. It was far weaker compared to the female widow and it's size had almost made him ignore the organ. When he found it however he had dissected all of the organs from the corpses for future purposes.

Dean looked up from the book to the rift and closed it. It worked similarly to his portals which were under his control for the most part. He could create and destroy it at any time.

Dean packed his stuff and was ready to leave the spider nest.

Walking through the webs he slowly but surely moved out of its range. Soon the webs grew less dense and soon he was able to hear groans and constant struggle. Dean smiled at the once familiar sounds.

'It's good to finally see something other than damn webs'

It had been eerily quiet the whole time Dean was inside the nest. He would occasionally come across a spiderling but they would always quickly run away from him. They clearly remembered Dean who was capable of killing their kin and feared him deeply. Dean had become a demon to the young spiders. Dean could only bitterly walk through the webs in silence. At first it was bliss for him to have silence from the carnage but he eventually missed the action of fighting and being on edge.

Dean swiftly stabbed the head of the trapped zombie and continued walking. He now had more reasons to kill zombies since he learnt of the stones, although it was unlikely that he would find one. Even if there was a one in a millionth chance of finding one, there were plenty of zombies, they would even grow stronger with time which would increase the odds of finding a stone if his theory was right.

Dean finally exited the nest and was walking down the streets. He looked back at the webs and remembered this place for the future. It was a self-sufficient area as long as there continued to be creatures that got caught in the webs it would continue to be a hotspot for mutants.

He then walked back on his intended route once again.

Inside the webs an unusually small spiderling watched as Dean left with even more intelligent eyes than it's siblings. It watched as Dean slowly left from it's view and slowly went to the areas Dean had left unmoving corpses.

Dean was currently moving by the rooftops again. He made haste to the supermarket area once again.

An hour passed as Dean moved at fast speeds unperturbed to battles or obstacles that would normally force one to slow down. He briefly paused at the familiar scenery and moved towards an area.

Returning to the corpse area where Kim Hannah had tortured the fat man Royce. He smiled remembering the group he had left, it hadn't been that long since they separated but he would be lying if he said he hadn't missed them; especially the food. He wondered if they were moving safely or if they had made it to the military base yet.

'They should be fine if they took my words to heart'

Dean had purposely made them realise that strength was important, it was also one reason why he was sure of leaving them. They were people who had strong wills and he was sure that his influence of making them realise power was important early on before something traumatic happened was the right choice.

Roughly a day ago

The group were walking through the streets carefully. Harris had equipped himself with a riot shield that he had found and was pushing back zombies trying to rush into the building.

Sophia aimed her pistol behind Harris and fired at the zombies. The zombies fell lifeless again which let Harris finally close the door.

"Are you alright honey?"

Sophia walked up and hugged her husband affectionately. Harris wondered why she was more affectionate recently but he didn't feel that it was a negative reason so he just gladly returned his own loving feelings for her. She had left him to think by himself so it was only right that he left her to think till she talked to him about it.

"Yup, you've gotten better at shooting"

He glanced at his shield which now had a hole on it. Sophia followed his eyes and flinched.

He couldn't help but laugh as he noticed her cheeks go red. Sophia tried hiding her face and couldn't help but say with a devilish smile.

"I thought you wanted to be a shield that didn't need help to block anything, guess you can't handle this many zombies unless I'm here"

Harris flinched at her words and watched as she left the entrance with a smirk.

"Sigh…women"

He tried to compliment her but it seemed that she didn't want that compliment.

Before when the group were practicing with the guns, Sophia had the worst aim out of everyone. They had even let Abigail practice a few times under Lucas's words. They had learnt from Dean and knew that Abigail should also fight even though she was a child. The world had changed and she should decide what she wanted as long as it was reasonable, they would let her do most things they did.

It was a wonder how Sophia was allowed to hold a gun with her terrible aim but Harris trusted her to not shoot him, he hoped that was the right decision. He looked at the hole on his shield and gulped, soon following her.

The group had decided to sleep inside this building and make their way towards the military base after. They couldn't use the family van anymore and had to walk the whole day fighting without rest. It was tiring and they decided to rest before their tiredness resulted in irreversible consequences.

Harris made his way and took a bowl of food Roxas had cooked.

"SLURP….Delicious"

The group happily ate and talked about things.

Lucas was talking to Abigail about her powers as he was the most 'adult' person here who could control their own emotions. He had been a workaholic and was emotionless per se, which was a great help for Abigail to learn and control the emotions that flooded her.

Kim Hannah had begun writing new notes in a book and was quietly focusing in a corner. She had become quiet again ever since Dean had separated with them. The group were not really worried since they had noticed she wasn't mopey but instead was even busier writing down things.

Though the person they were most worried about was Alice who had rarely talked with them. This especially caused her brother to worry for her. He had once seen her like this when they were children which let him easily understand why she was so gloomy.

'Dean was her only friend in a very long time and seeing him leave must've hurt her a lot'

Roxas wanted to comfort her but he knew she wouldn't truly move on. The best thing he could do was make her delicious food.

Inside Kim Hannah's notes thought an impressive amount of notes was being written. She slowly revised what she had newly written and paused at what people would call an inhumane experiment.

Surgery of mutated body parts may be possible if conditions are met.

Synergy, compatibility, infusion

Synergy: Limbs must coincide with users biology (A body made of Fire will not be able to be coincide with an ice limb)

Compatibility: High infected limbs can't be fused due to risk of losing rationale

Infusion: A painful process in which the subject needs to undergo fusion with limb, body is being modified so cells and pain receptors will result in discomfort.
