CHAPTER15

"Before you bring out your conclusions, I can explain," Keane said lifting Guenevere's body in his arms and walking past his friend.

He couldn't get rid of his bad mood, it was impregnated all over him like a bouquet and with the questions, Dereck kept making he had the feeling he was going to be moody for quite a while.

Luckily they met the Shaman on the way to his chambers.

His face was expressionless as usual, he was a dark, tall, and brawny man that was a successor of his ancestors like them.

"The human has a sprained ankle, you have to learn how to control yourself around her, alpha," the wise man said without removing his concentration on the herbs he was anointing on the affected area" your grip could have dislocated it".

" She must have gone through a lot of pain," Dereck said crossing his arms to his chest "I have always known woman to swoon over your charm but not in this manner," said Dereck ironically watching how the Shaman of their pack took care of Gwenyvere's ankle. While his friend seemed worried pacing along the room restlessly.

Keane walked to the door with big strides, he couldn't stand being one more second around the woman in his bed. he needed to surface as a werewolf and feel the breeze through his fur and the softness of the grass while he ran under the light of the moon.

"I leave her under your guardianship from now on," he said to his Gama before striding out of the room.

The first thing Gwenyvere noticed when she was able to open her eyes was that she was alone in Keanes room with a table equipped with food and water, the room itself was warmed by the fire on the stove that enlighted it enough to see her ankle wrapped in white gauze. She gently caressed it surprised that it wasn't swollen and that the pain was almost nonexistent.

Had the beast been concerned for her? She thought bewilderedly.

However she shook her head in denial, If he had been concerned or not wasn't going to make her forgive and forget, in fact for her Keane had shown his true colors and as long as they were farm for each other she could breathe in peace.

Gwenyvere set the blankets aside and gently walked up to the table careful not to put effort on the harmed foot, she pulled the handle and realized it was closed therefore she went to the table to choose the meal that would help appease her hunger now that she knew she was safely lockdown.

Offending the alpha had cost her her freedom in the palace, she rasped bother by his audacity. If he was in power he had the heads to rule upon but hers was definitely an exception, she gave a potent bite to the apple she took from the tray that only contained fruits; the aroma of meat and porridge was floating above the other containers and her stomach longed for it, inviting her to forget about the owner of the castle for a while.

Later on, she watched the sunset seated by the window with her hands hanging on its frame as a support for her head. she was clueless about the time she had spent watching the whole place, plus, she was on the tenterhooks with the thought that Keane would sooner or later come into the room, her wors ally was boredom because it filled her head with both good memories and awful thoughts, it was like she was lost in time and would never be found.

A gentle knock on the door brought her back to the present causing her to flinch and stand up attentive.

" Oh, Hello. it's good that you are awake"

Gwenyvere studied the familiar woman wearing a long dress as black as her hair, the feeling of having seen her somewhere didn't leave her mind until she remembered a very shameful situation in the corridor.

"what are you doing here?" Gwenyvere asked reluctantly, She didn't need such company around her, between the black-haired standing in the middle of the room and the women that worked in the brothel she saw no more difference than the expensive jewels and attire.

"poor thing" she looked around her " I heard the alpha has given the order to maintain you under lock and key" behind her two servants brought a basin and a third one filled it with warm water before beginning to perfume it with essential oils.

" Lady Rowena, with all respect you are not allowed to see the prisoner," Said a guard standing at the doorway.

Rowena didn't seem bothered that she was being sacked but Gwenyvere was for being called a prisoner.

The woman walked up to her and leaned to her ear as if she wasn't about to share a secret.

"you are so brave, is admirable the way you stand for yourself, you have to keep fighting, never stick to the rules, and as soon as he grows tired Keane will finally release you" she whispered to Gwenyvere and then smile to finally leave the room.

The servants pretended not to have paid attention and left as soon as they were done preparing the basin leaving her locked down once again.

Without further interruptions, she limped to bed and sat down reviving all that Rowena had told her. What a misuse of her surname, that they are almost namesakes made her feel as if she was burning in anger.

However, the main idea of what she has told her was sneaking into her mind and slowly convincing her as she undressed and soaked her body sitting into the basin, making sure she left one leg hanging out of the water. The scent emanating from it made her take a deep breath while she rested.
