MY MATE

I paced across the room as my father had sent me and Alpha Jason to the room next door while he tried to pacify Alpha Cain.

"Why are you pacing, love?" Alpha Jason asked as he waved for me to take a seat next to him.

I shook my head and rejected his offer.

'Maybe if we sat next to him you would calm down.' Ares told me.

'I don't think that will work.' I said to Ares as I looked at Alpha Jason.

"With all due respect, Alpha Jason, I prefer walking around, it calms me." I told him as I continued to pace across the room.

I heard the low rumble of his chuckle as he got up and walked over to me.

He blocked my way and shook his head as he stopped me by holding on to my shoulders, making sure that I stood in place.

"First of all, drop the formality, you are my mate, my equal. Just Jason will do." He told me as he gave me a loving look.

I tried to look away, but for some reason I just couldn't get myself to do it. His eyes drew me in, mesmerized me.

"Okay." I simply replied as I found the strength to speak. A part of me just wanted to look at him all day.

"Good, good." He said with a nod. "Second, please, sit down. Your father is an amazing Alpha and he has led the council for years. He is a great man, I'm sure everything will be settled soon." He told me.

I could somehow feel myself calming down as he gently caressed my shoulders and spoke to me. Ares was right, something about being with my mate calmed me down.

"Why don't we take a seat and get to know each other? I'm sure you have questions for me as I have questions for you." He told me as he took my hand in his, making my body go mush at his touch.

"Did you feel that?" I asked him as I looked up at the man in front of me.

"Yes." He said with a nod. "It's the mate bond. Come, let's talk." He said as he continued to guide me towards the couch.

When we were finally seated I decided to sit closer to him than he expected, I noticed as a smile formed on his lips. It seemed he wanted me close too.

'What is wrong with you, Amaya?' Ares asked in my head. 'Have you gone stupid becaise of the mate bond?'

I sighed, she was right. I knew that my body would react differently when he touched me. I knew that I would be drawn to every aspect of the man he was because the Moon Goddess made us for each other.

"Are you alright?" I heard him say, pulling me back to reality.

"Yeah, I'm sorry about that. Honestly, I am normally not this stupid." I confessed with a light laugh, making him smile.

"I'm sure you aren't, and for the record, I don't think you are stupid. Confused, yes, but not stupid, no, never." He told me, boosting my confidence.

"So what did you want to know?" I asked him, changing the topic.

"Well, why don't you tell me things about yourself first?" He asked me as he took my hand once more and gently stroked it.

"My name is Amaya Raven, that part you already knew, and my dad named me the future alpha of the Shadows Pack, something that will need to change now that we are mates." I told him.

"Amaya, my name is Jason Blake. I'm the new alpha of the Silver Moon Pack. My father made me Alpha when I turned twenty, which was three years ago. Also, who ever said that you would need to give up your place as future Alpha because we were mates?" He asked me.

I didn't know that he was three years older than me, from the looks of it we seemed to be the same age. Then again, wolves aged incredibly slow, especially those from the original packs.

"What do you mean by that?" I asked him, confused by his last statement. No Luna could be an Alpha too. It raised a lot of concerns, especially with the management of the pack.

"You don't need to give up your position as future alpha because you are my mate. You can still be alpha." He assured me. "I've known your brother for years, and he has told us time and again that he does not want to be Alpha."

"Jason, it would just be too complicated." I told him with a sigh. "I knew from the very beginning that I would be mated to an Alpha. I've accepted the fact that I need to be your Luna and nothing else."

"You are wrong there, my love." Jason said as he cupped my face in his hands. "You can still be Alpha, we can find a solution with your parents. The moment I laid my eyes on you and I saw you wearing that outfit I knew you were an extraordinary woman and I thanked the Moon Goddess for having given me you as my mate."

"The other packs will not like that." I told him. "Let's say I do become Alpha after my father, that would mean that the Shadows Pack and the Silver Moon Pack would enter an unbreakable alliance. And when it is time to name an heir, will we have two separate ones, or just one?"

"I don't mind combining our packs, we can have just one. If the Moon Goddess wills it." He told me with a serious expression.

"Jonas, it's just too complicated and too dangerous." I said as I leaned back against the couch. "If we were ordinary packs that might have been possible, but we come from original packs. It's just too dangerous."

"Whatever you choose, my love, I will support you." Jason suddenly promised. "I don't think your father plans on stepping down anytime soon. He is an amazing alpha."

"Oh, trust me, he can't wait to hand over the pack." I told Jason as I laughed as I recalled my father telling us that he wanted to retire as soon as I turned twenty five.

"I'm sure he will wait if you tell him we need time." Jason said as she pulled me into his arms.

I could feel myself leaning onto his chest as I enjoyed the warmth coming from his body. I felt as his strong muscles relaxed as he held on to me.

"This is where you belong, in my arms, and I will always be by your side, that I promise." Jason said as I let myself enjoy being in my mate's arms for the first time.

I don't know how long we were in this position before a knock came from the door.

Beta Daniel slowly pushed the door open and smiled as he found us resting on the couch.

"Your father said you can both come back now, the matter has already been settled." He told us.

"Come, my love, let's face the council." Jason said as he stood up and offered his hand for me to take.

For some reason even the simplest actions coming from Jason made my heart flutter. I couldn't help but thank the Moon Goddess that she gave me this man.
