"It's something that only Alphas are taught." Jason was quick to explain as soon as the door closed behind us. "I didn't think it was a threat since we would be completing the mating tonight and I was going to ask you to be my Luna tomorrow."
"Jason, why are you so worried?" I asked him. I was confused with his reaction. It was as if we were in danger of something or of someone.
I took a step closer to him and wrapped my arms around his waist as I rested my head on his chest.
"Amaya, didn't you hear what Sean said?" He asked. "Others are after you too."
"And do you think they can take me?" I asked him.
'I'm disappointed in how little faith our mate has in us.' Ares told me in a sad tone. I could feel her disappointment, I couldn't lie, I felt the same way too.
"No." Jason said as he shook his head. "But I can't help but worry, Amaya."
"What are you worried about? I'd rather die than be with someone else." I told him with full confidence. I knew in my heart that there would only ever be one man for me, and that was Jason.
Strong, kind, brave Jason. The perfect image of a mate and an Alpha. The moon goddess seemed to favor me when she was handing out mates, because mine couldn't have been any more perfect.
"Amaya, they could be raising an army as we speak. Your bloodline is one of the strongest, you are also a future Alpha." Jason said as I saw vividly the worry in his eyes.
I never thought I would see an Alpha this afraid, even my father was not this scared when my mother injured her leg in one of our training sessions.
He was worried, yes, but not the way Jason was right now.
"There are also those that are against us being together." Jason reminded me. "We are a threat to many packs, especially other original packs. Our child could be the alpha of two original packs, and combining the Shadows and Silver Moon packs would make for an incredible army of wolves."
"Our packs are peaceful people." I reminded him.
"And yet the only pack that could rival mine in battle is yours." Jason reminded me.
"Jason, they won't be able to get me." I told him. "My father's pack is all around us, and as you said, our pack is the only one that could rival your own. Add to that the fact that I am not some helpless she wolf that can be kidnapped. Even with silver chains and wolfsbane I can still fight back."
"I will not let them burn your skin with silver chains or make you weak with wolfsbane." Jason growled as he heard my words.
Silver and Wolfsbane were our greatest weaknesses. While neither could kill me in moderate doses, a huge amount would be enough to take me down.
Most wolves would die with just a cup full, but with Alphas and those of Alpha bloodlines it took much more.
"If it will make you feel better, we can ask some of my dad's men to stand guard outside the pack house and to patrol the halls." I told Jason. I knew that we had to do something to keep him at ease. I also did not want my mate worrying on the night we were meant to mate.
It was supposed to be a magical experience, one that you would never forget. Or at least that's what all the mated wolves told me.
"I would prefer that, yes." He said with a nod as I sensed him calm down.
"Jason, please don't worry." I told him as I cupped his face in my much smaller hands. "No one will take me from you, I am yours and you are mine, forever."
"Forever." He said as he smiled at me.
"We should go." I told Jason as I took a step back, I didn't want to end up mating in this office. I wasn't even sure whose office this actually was.
Looking around I realized that we were in the head warrior's office, my brother's office. If he knew what almost happened here he would demand that this room be thoroughly cleaned.
