A new ability

As we chatted about trivial stuff time continued to pass the time. Percival was the son of a wealthy wizard who owned a large chain of businesses. I wasn't too surprised considering his etiquette and the way the boy carried himself.

*Grumble*

I held my stomach in surprise and looked up awkwardly to see Percival chucking lightly before pressing a button on a wooden panel that was hidden in the wall. Soon, the voice of an aged woman could be heard.

"What can I do for you?" she asked.

"We would like something to eat please," Percival said before asking me what I wanted. I ordered a steak and chips since he told me I could order whatever I wanted.

"The food will be ready shortly. Please be patient till you hear a knock on your door." She said before disconnecting the call. The wooden panel instantly closed back up into the wall as if it was never there in the first place. This was much better than the archaic method of Hogwarts. There was no old lady walking around with a trolley. Here, if you wanted something you ordered it. it was a much more efficient use of time and manpower.

Not long after a knock could be heard, and we opened the door to see a house-elf with a trolly. It had the dishes we served. I was tempted to get the abilities of the house-elf now, but I was afraid of being caught performing something.

'Drak is there a way to do it stealthily?' I asked. I remembered the wave of dark magic that pulsed out of my eye that one time.

{You don't have to worry about that, only you can see the pulse of dark magic, to everyone else it's invisible.} Achlys answered.

I nodded and fixed my gaze on the house-elf before smiling slightly.

FWOOSH!

A wave of black magic burst out and covered the elf for a few moments before receding again. I grabbed the trolly and pushed it inside before thanking the elf.

Once I was inside I placed the trolly to the side and transfigured a table that was fitting for the room out of a handkerchief in my pocket.

"Wow, quite versatile of you." He said, clearly impressed by the magic. I simply shrugged, I was too focused on the memories flooding into my brain and the familiar pins and needle feeling course through my body. it suddenly went numb like when your arm falls asleep.

After a while, I was able to slowly regain movement, but it was difficult, as if my body was only waking up now. But a familiar feeling coursed through my body. My perception of magic once again elevated to a higher stage.

'Why?' I asked in my mind.

[because house-elves have an incredible affinity for magic. So even though you took their abilities for telekinesis and knowledge on aparating, you seem to have added their magical constitution to your own. That explains the numb feeling you experienced before.]

'Holy shit! Who knew that was possible? So, wait, does that mean I can aparate wherever I want like house elves? Can I directly aparate to Hogwarts?' I asked excitedly.

[you can indeed. After all, you copied their unique magic. So, you are now able to bypass all restrictions that would usually hinder wizards. This is a massive boost.] he said.

"HEY! Dumbass! Your food is cold! What the hell is up with you? You're very strange." Said Percival as he waved his hand in my face.

I then looked at the cold food and shrugged. With a wave of my hand, it heated back up as if it was new. Percival stared at it with his jaw dropped and pouted to the side.

"Why do I even bother, talented prick," he mumbled. This made me laugh which caught his attention.

"So, you do have a sense of humour, and here I thought you were made of stone." He said jokingly.

"Tch, whatever. So how long do you think it will take till we get to Ilvermorny?" I asked while I ate.

"I would say an hour or so. No more than two hours max though. the town isn't that far from Mt Greylock, to begin with," he responded as he fiddled with the fork he ate with previously.

"That's good. I wonder what the castle looks like." I spoke

"Oh, it's massive. The top of the mountain seems small but as soon as you're inside the protective bubble the land multiplies hundreds of times. It's like there's a different world inside. It's massive. There is a vast forest full of creatures, the arena off to the side, the swimming area. The quidditch field. The castle itself is massive and is even bigger when you go inside.

It's an expansion charm within an expansion charm. Fascinating stuff really. It was said that expanding space within another previously expanded space was impossible because it made the already slightly unstable space even more so. But less than a century ago, the headmaster at the time found a solution. So, the castle is even bigger. Let's just say it would take you a month minimum to traverse the entire area." He said with a proud look.

I was shocked. This was a difference between heaven and earth to Hogwarts. He was almost ashamed. The grandeur of Ilvermorny completely overshadows that of Hogwarts. I couldn't help but sigh. I wondered why there was such a big difference to begin with? was it the conservative nature of the English? Or was it something different? He could only guess.
