Quiet whisper *

Alice's POV

As I watched the car carrying my new found colleagues disappear around the corner, a sense of unease settled over me like a dark cloud. I let out a heavy sigh and trudged towards my front door, looking around me as I took out my keys, my thoughts consumed by the looming prospect of my new job.

I knew I should feel excited - after all, I had just landed a great position at the biggest company in Japan. But the thought of working as an assistant to the infamous Blake Whiteford made my stomach twist. I had heard the rumors that he was a demanding and ruthless boss who spared no one and didn't allow any sorts of mistakes.

I needed to clear my head, so I headed straight to the bathroom for a long and peaceful shower. The sound of the water, strolling down my body, drowning out my anxious thoughts. I stood beneath the hot spray, letting the steam fill my lungs and wash away the dirt and grime of the day. But even as the water poured over me, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off, that maybe I wasn't ready for this kind of challenge, this big step forward.

I climbed into my bed and stared up at the blank white ceiling. Try as I might, I couldn't shake the feeling of dread that clung to me like a second skin, threatening to suffocate me with every taken breath. My biggest opportunity would either turn into a dream job or turn out to be a living hell.

Eventually, my tiredness took over me and I drifted off into a deep sleep.

As the first rays of morning light filtered through the gap in my curtains, I slowly stirred from my deep slumber. For a moment, I lay there in a daze, my mind still foggy. With a heavy sigh, I forced myself out of bed, my muscles sore from the tension of the previous day. After a quick shower, teeth brushing, and hair fixing, I headed downstairs and out of my apartment.

With a deep breath, I started walking towards my new job, each step feeling heavier than the last as I considered the unknowns that lay ahead. My mind is consumed by a never-ending stream of paranoid thoughts. "Today is going to be a hell of a challenge"

As I walked into the imposing building, my heart raced with nervous energy. The receptionist greeted me with a warm smile, and I couldn't help but feel relieved that someone was expecting me and I wouldn't be walking around like some alien. Making my way to the elevator, I pressed the button for the top floor where my new boss's office was located.

The doors opened to a grand entrance, complete with a heavy wooden door and a sign plastered over them, indicating the CEO's office and on the right side of it was what I presumed was a secretary's workplace. I knocked on the door, feeling a sense of apprehension as I awaited permission to enter, even though I had the urge to just barge in.

"Come in," a voice boomed from inside. Pushing the door open, I stepped inside to find my eyes instantly going towards a certain red headed jerk, Colin- my thoughts were interrupted when I caught the glimpse of a familiar, golden hued, eyes. The man from yesterday...

"Seems like we will meet again, lady, I didn't get to introduce myself last time. I'm Blake Whiteford." He suddenly splured, 'so he is my boss' I regained my composure and without missing a beat, I asked,

"So what am I supposed to do?" Handsome or not I ain't going to play nice, but to my surprise the response was unexpected, to say the least.

"A cocky one," he chuckled, clearly amused by my question.

Feeling a surge of bitterness, I retorted, "What do you expect from someone YOU basically kidnapped?"

Blake's expression darkened for a moment, but then he smirked and said, "I have a job for you."

He wasted no time in handing me a stack of paperwork, warning me that failure was not an option, Colin just snickerd, but earned a glare from Blake

"You are going to help her if she needs." Now it was my time to laugh as Colin simply grumbled at Blakes statement.

As I left the room, I couldn't help but feel overwhelmed by the weight of the paperwork in my hands. But I couldn't show any weakness in front of my new boss and that kid of a jerk, so I simply nodded and headed to my new workspace.

.

"She is strong"

"Or she just acts like that, don't judge a person before you get to know them, Colin"

"With you boss, I will never get to know anyone" he chuckled, but quickly shut up as Blake glared holes into him.

.

As I sat down at the table outside Blake's office, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was in over my head. But as I heard Colin's comment about me acting like I'm almighty, I knew that I needed to prove myself to my new colleagues, no matter what it took.

I thought since it was too much to work on, it would be hard, but this? This was suspiciously easy. Before I knew it was already down, but at least I got the work done. I stretched out in my chair, packed my things and then left the building.

Blake's POV

.

I stepped out of my stuffy office, desperate for a breath of fresh air, only to discover that my new secretary had already called it a day. A heavy sigh escaped my lips, it seemed that she was no different than the others who had come before her. They were all preoccupied with nothing but the clock and the paycheque, never bothering to go extra to finish tasks that extended beyond their working hours. I sighed, knowing for a fact that I would have to pick up where she left off on my own.

But as I approached her desk, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the work I had assigned her was already completed. Picking up one of the papers, a smile crept onto my face. "This should be interesting," I thought to myself. It was clear that my new secretary had much more to offer than I had initially given her credit for.
