The eagle flapped its wing and leaped from the ground.

"don't forget about me…" Zhenya shouted as a gust of wind passed by her, making her crimson hairs blow.

She had a disappointing expression looking at Ethan's figure disappear in the distance.

She suddenly felt a hand on her shoulder making her turn

"Let's go back."

It was Sun Zhuang standing there with a gentle smile.

"yes…" she nodded her head timidly and followed her brother to the main courtyard.

When they arrived at the main hall, all the elders and Zhenya's mother were present at the dining table.

"ah, Greetings Mother, Greetings elders."

Both brother and sister greeted them and took their seats.

"Zhuang, we just received an invitation from the Imperial family."

Elder Jie, an old man with a white beard handed over a golden scroll with the imperial edict stamp on it.

"What?! It really is an imperial edict…"

Sun Zhuang hesitatingly opened it and started to read the contents of the letter.

As he finished reading a confused look appeared on his face.

"Young Master, what does it say?"

Another elder who appeared to be around his late thirties asked.

Zhenya tried to peek at the letter from his side

"Ah!.

"It is The Imperial Princess Lian Qin's birthday Invitation."

Sun Zhuang muttered looking at the letter with a frown.

"Princess Qin? Her birthday? When?"

Sun Zhenya asked excitedly.

"It's exactly a month from now, by the way, have you met her before?" Zhuang asked, looking at his excited sister.

Hearing that a proud smile appeared on her face she cleared her throat before speaking, "Last time, she was in the Divine Phoenix sect for a few months for some reasons, and we became friends."

All the elders looked at her with amusement, they had to admit that, befriending the royal princess is a feat they can never achieve. These big shots were very aware of their schemes and the ulterior motives behind their friendship.

"Really? So that's why we received an invitation… it says we can take only ten people with this." Zhuang said as he read the contents of the letter.

The old man sitting beside him said.

"Of course, we should. I want to get out of this place for a change of pace."

Hearing that, Zhenya felt her mood getting better.

After the whole day of traveling, Ethan and Yaling spotted a village.

They didn't know how far the next city was located, so they decided to rest for a night in the village.

"Young Master, I think we can stop here, I will feed little Xiao, you can take a rest at the Inn. "

Yaling got off Little Xiao's back and patted his head.

"Hey, what's with this 'young master' business? I told you you can just call me Ethan…" Ethan said with a wry smile.

She said and looked down.

Ethan moved to her side and grabbed her by her waist and started to walk.

She blushed a little and nodded her head. The people around there chuckled looking at the two.

Ethan looked at their expressions and their behavior carefully then looked around everybody.

Ethan and Yaling started to walk through the stalls picking some spirit fruits for Little Xiao.

"I think we should head back now, this is a lot," Yaling said, trying to stop him from buying everything in the store.

"oh, sure…" Ethan said as he retrieved a dozen spirit stones from his storage pouch and handed it to the store owner.

But the store owner didn't show any surprise or disappointment and accepted the money with a nod.

After they went back to an open area, Yaling called little Xiao and fed him the fruits they brought.

After that, they went to an Inn to rent a double-bed room.

Ethan again felt something was wrong with these people…

Soon the sun went down, the stars started to glitter in the glamorous sky.

Yaling was sleeping soundly due to exhaustion, but Ethan's eyes were wide open.

He was at the window staring outside.

Their room was on the second floor, so it gave him a fairly good view of the village.

But Ethan's eyes set in a particular direction, around the outskirts of the village, something was glowing faintly.

Ethan asked in his mind.

Ethan said in his mind as he reached Yaling.

He slowly shook her body to wake her up.

She opened her eyes and looked at the handsome face in front of her.

Ethan put his index finger on her mouth and gestured for her to wake up.

She nodded her head and got up.

They reached the window and looked outside.

"Look, Yaling, I think there is something wrong with this village so…"

Yaling frowned and glared at him, "I think I felt something off about these people too, but what can I help you with?"

"We are going to find out what is wrong of course."

Yaling facepalmed and sighed.

"do we really have to meddle with these people, we can go back tomorrow after dawn…"
