Chapter 28: The Illusion

It was the morning and Mike was excited for his battle against Mei. Mike found out Mei specialized in Ghost Type Pokemon, so this was Zorua's time to shine. Mike decided to train Zorua an hour before his gym battle. Mike went to the public battlefields and found a trainer that was younger than him. He was a short boy, who was around 4'11 who wore a baseball cap with the Moako Mismagius." He said that his name was Henry and that he would want to battle Mike.

Mike sent out his Zorua. Henry sent out Furret. Zorua started off with a Night Slash, but Furret countered back with a Tackle. Zorua used Slam, Furret got knocked back, but came back with a powerful Earth power. Zorua finished off Furret with a powerful Night Slash. Henry sent out his next Pokemon, Staravia. Staravia used Aerial Ace, which was a guaranteed hit. Zorua used a newly learned Tail whip and lowered it's defense. Staravia used another Aerial Ace. Then, Zorua was able to finish it off with a Night Slash. Henry was disappointed. He went back to his house crying to his mom.

Suddenly, Zorua had a blue aura surrounding it. It was evolving! It's shape and size were turning different! Zorua had evolved into Zoroark and it had learned Dark Pulse, a powerful Dark type move. Mike had finally found his secret weapon to defeat Mei. Mike found another boy, who was waiting for a battle. Mike asked to battle him, He said his name was Kishore. Kishore sent out a Vanillish, and Mike had sent out his newly evolved Zoroark, But when he sent out Zoroark, Dartrix came out for some reason. Mike decided that he would stick with Dartrix anyways. Vanillish used a powerful Icy Wind on Dartrix, which was extremely powerful against it, but Dartrix looked like it wasn't affected too much.

A minute later, Dartrix had transformed into Zoroark. It turned out that Zoroark had made an illusion to think that it was Dartrix and that was the reason why Icy wind didn't do that much damage to it. Zoroark finished off the Vanillish with it's newly learned Dark Pulse. Kishore sent out his final Pokemon, Flaaffy. Flaaffy used a powerful Thunderbolt, but Zoroark took it like a champ. Zoroark used Dark Pulse on it, but Flaaffy just barely lived. Flaaffy used a Discharge, which paralyzed Zoroark, but Zoroark was able to finish it off with a Night Slash. Kishore acted like a good sport and said that he was preparing to battle Mei that evening and was training. Kishore promised Mike that if they were to meet somewhere in the future, they would definetly have a friendly battle again.

Mike went back to his Hotel room and showed Carson and Georgia his newly evolved Zoroark. Carson said that Zoroark would surely beat Mei's Ghost Types. Later that afternoon, the three of them left and entered the Moako City Gym...
