Chapter 44: The Reopening

Mike and the gang could see the entrance to the next city over in the distance. They continued to walk until they got a surprise visit. It was Willow, she had looked all over the region and was surprised that Mike was able to get this far so quickly. She was also very surprised when Mike showed her the four gym badges he earned. Willow explained that Team Boom released some news about Mike's mother. Willow showed the three of them her phone. She showed an Email from a Team Boom member. It wrote "Ms. Hatterton will be kept safe at our base, she is very helpful in our new plan. From, Anonymous.

Mike was still determined to save his mother, and he wanted to thwart Team Boom's plan. Mike explained to Willow how he saw Team Boom's Leader, but was able to see them for a short amount of time. Mike thanked Willow for the information and she ran back the other direction. Mike battled the trainers throughout the route and figured out that many of the trainers had Poison-type Pokemon. Mike then assumed that the gym leader for the next city would be poison. They finally entered the gate to Renimba City.

When they first entered, the city was under construction. Lots of buildings were being rebuilt, Mike didn't know why. They went to the Pokemon Center and asked Nurse Joy why everything was being rebuilt. While healing his Pokemon, Nurse Joy explained that Team Boom had made a big terrorist attack on Renimba City and had destroyed 80% of the city, she was lucky that her Pokemon center had minor damage from the attack. Nurse Joy said that if they were looking for a hotel, they would have to go to the Renimba Community Center. All the hotels were damaged in Renimba City, so that was their only option.

They entered the community center, it was a decent walk from the Pokemon center. When they entered, they saw about 200 sleeping bags lined up on the cold, hard ground. There was a lady with long, dusty blonde hair in her early 20's distributing snacks and sleeping bags to newcomers. When she gave the items to Mike, she asked if he was a Pokemon Trainer. Mike replied Yes. The lady said she was the gym leader of this town and would love to battle him. She said that there haven't been many battles in the past months due to the attack. She also claimed that today was going to be the reopening of her new gym. Mike agreed to come to the opening and walked off placing his sleeping bag in a corner beside Carson and Georgia.

A few hours later, it was time for the grand opening. The exterior of the gym looked grand, one of its kind. It had bold red neon lights surrounding the entrance and a big electronic display that would show the battles from a camera angle for those who didn't have a ticket. When the lady was about to cut the ribbon, they heard a loud gunshot and a bystander had fell to the floor with blood surrounding him. Everyone was in shock and ran away. Mike looked thoroughly and saw a man with a sniper rifle. Mike ran towards the man in different patterns to avoid being sniped and confronted him...
