I Will Not Look At Another

"First Elder, do not think that I do not understand your concerns." The Lunar Patriarch did not reproach the latter for questioning him.

Sighing, the Lunar Patriarch continued, "With enemies on every side, our position at present is far too dangerous. At any moment, our clan may face destruction."

"If we can get the support of the most mysterious Twelve-Suns Manor, we can turn the tides in an instant!" The Lunar Patriarch's eyes shone with flames of hope.

"It may be worth the risk." Many of the elders in the room began nodding with thoughtful faces after the Lunar Patriarch expressed his stand.

"The benefits of a successful marriage with the Twelve-Suns Eldest Young Master will be unimaginable."

At that thought, many of the elders looked at Han Ying fondly. It was the Twelve-Suns Old Master himself who had made the announcement.

Seeing that the atmosphere in the room was changing, the Lunar First Elder began to ponder as he did not take his gaze off his daughter.

"Han Ying, lift your head. What do you think your chances of success are with the Twelve-Suns Eldest Young Master?"

Han Ying had, of course, heard everything in the room.

Naturally, the Lunar Moon's Youngest Miss had not made her request because of any schemes.

Finally meeting her father's gaze, Han Ying murmured, "I will never take advantage of him for clan matters. But as for the chances of success… probably close to zero."

"You, you… very good!" The First Elder pointed at her daughter in disbelief and fury. When he was finally about to explode, a servant rushed into the meeting room.

"Noble Elders and Esteemed Patriarch, an important guest is at the door." The servant, seeing the chilly atmosphere, understood his inappropriate actions as he dropped to his knees.

"Who could be so important for you to barge into our meeting room like this? If I do not get a good answer, don't expect to leave here alive." The First Elder threatened.

"I-it is the Twelve-Suns Eldest Young Master and he is alone!" The servant was frightened to death as he hurriedly cried out.

"So it is just an insign-" The First Elder stopped before he grabbed the servant in shock. "Who did you just say it was?!"

"The Twelve-Suns Eldest Young Master!" The Lunar First Elder trembled along with the Lunar Patriarch. Was he here to end their clan right here and now?

In the grand scheme of things, their Lunar Moon clan was not worth much in the vast capital. If even the all-powerful and noble Lin Family could not offend the Twelve-Suns Eldest Young Master, how could they?

"We're doomed." The elders all sighed in unison. The young miss had truly gone too far this time. Their clan's great history that had spanned for decades may very well end today.

In the capital, many young masters were haughty and unfettered, daring to do anything. For those talented geniuses, disobeying their family often meant just a slap on the wrist at most.

"If his father was here, the Twelve-Suns Eldest Young Master may have restrained himself for now. But alas!" The Lunar Patriarch sighed with pity.

They had a single hope, however. This was on account of the Twelve-Suns Old Master being the one to agree to this engagement. For his father's face, he should not be too cruel, right?

However, all of them expected there to be bloodshed today.

. . .

"It is taking longer than expected." Tang Zixin thought as he recalled that little girl's small cute face. "Who would have thought you to be the one to stand with me when all the world had turned against me."

"You will all pay." Tang Zixin narrowed his eyes.

Finally, Tang Zixin saw an elderly figure rushing down the hall, who he recognized.

"Father-in-law." Tang Zixin thought.

Just as he was about to greet his elder, Tang Zixin was surprised to see the Lunar First Elder kneel before him, "What are you doing?"

The young man's voice was gentle and kind, but in the ears of the Lunar First Elder, his low voice was no different than the most evil Asura himself.

"Please allow this old bag of bones to take the punishment of my unfilial daughter in her stead!" Lunar First Elder managed to bang his head on the floor once, but before he could land another, a gentle aura lifted him up.

Lunar First Elder was in shock and disbelief as he could not defend himself in the face of this mysterious force at all.

It was as if it was not there in the first place.

In his vision, all he could see was an anxious young man waving his hand, his temperament coupled with that noble appearance was far too extraordinary.

"Why does the Twelve-Suns Eldest Young Master appear anxious?" The Lunar First Elder was very confused. "Should he not be brimming with anger?"

"Father-in-law, don't do that again." Tang Zixin sighed with concern. "You're like my father."

"W-what." The Lunar First Elder could not believe how the Twelve-Suns Eldest Young Master was addressing him, even thinking his old ears were playing tricks on him.

This… was the script wrong?

"I wish to see my fiancée."

Hearing the gentle and kind voice again, the Lunar First Elder still thought that his ears were playing tricks on him, but he quickly nodded and led the way with a ghostlike expression.

. . .

Very soon, the two arrived at the main hall. Upon entering, many servants clamored around to serve him the best tea and snacks.

Though Tang Zixin was not interested at all, he still humbly accepted them as this was her home. Looking around, all the familiar figures of the past entered his view.

It was not long before Tang Zixin's gaze stopped at a certain petite figure whose loving gaze stared at him with pure worship. Many elders stood behind her, seemingly to restrict her.

The Lunar Patriarch was very nervous as he watched the Twelve-Suns Eldest Young Master curiously look around.

But as the clan's leading Patriarch, he could not sit still and watch his clan be destroyed while doing nothing, "What a blessing to have such a noble guest today! To what pleasure do I owe for the esteemed Twelve-Suns Eldest Young Master's visit?"

Standing beside Tang Zixin was still the ghostlike Lunar First Elder, the former replied in a casual tone, "To meet her. Is it not obvious?"

Tang Zixin scratched his head. Wasn't it normal to meet his fiancée and family?

Since birth, he had been a cultivation addict, so he could not be blamed too much for his poor people-skills.

After that declaration, the whole hall chilled and thought, "The Twelve-Suns Eldest Young Master is here to take the life of our Youngest Miss."

Usually, the engaged party would officially inform the clan prior to their visit, but the Twelve-Suns Eldest Young Master had turned up unannounced 'in secret.'

But, in reality, Tang Zixin had just been in a rush to get here and meet her.

The Lunar Patriarch had an awkward smile, "This matter, must it be done?"

In the end, she was a part of their clan—someone the clan all loved. Moreover, she was the First Elder's sole child.

How could he, as the clan's patriarch and protector, give her up just like that without a fight? Where would he put his old face in the future?

"Of course!" Tang Zixin became even more puzzled after being questioned, and he looked toward the nervous Han Ying.

Noticing her ghastly expression, Tang Zixin quickly realized something was wrong.

Han Ying quickly lowered her face when she met his dark eyes, but not long after, she lifted her gaze again in awe.

Tang Zixin had seen this and curled his lips in response.

"Twelve-Suns Eldest Young Master, please do leave us a path of survival. Though we are a small, insignificant clan, we won't go down just like that!" The Lunar Patriarch solemnly said.

"Sir Patriarch, are you misunderstanding me right now?" Tang Zixin helplessly asked as he saw the fearful eyes of everyone in the hall.

What did these people think of him?

"I just wish to meet my fiancée and her family, then hopefully we can settle on a marriage date."
