Chapter 1
Heartbeat
It was so quick that all I could think of was keeping myself from falling. I held onto his waist tightly although it disgusts me. His driving is just too fast for me to be comfortable not holding on to anything.
As we go farther, my mind just won't stop worrying. I got a bad feeling that I'm already fxxked up! This is leading me away from my supposed direction and everything is just getting unfamiliar!
“C-Could you drive slow?” I said in a loud tone because the ride is so clangorous.
He didn't respond to me. I don't know if he didn't hear me or he just doesn't want to respond. But I said it out loud, I'm pretty sure he did hear me!
“Hello! Where are we heading? This isn't the way to the mall!”
He still didn't respond.
I loosened my hold. This is just not the way to the mall! I'm pretty sure of that! I started to feel my heart swelling. The urge to jump from the motorcycle is killing me! I certainly don't want to die like this but what will I do!? I don't want this goon to get me either!
“Where are you taking me!” I said panicking.
It was like he was deaf. I was ready to go then. It doesn't matter if I die in the middle of the road or get myself paralyzed. But being held by an ugly kidnapper is the last thing I want to happen to my life. But before I could even do that, he deliberately doubled the speed of the ride making me abruptly wrap my arms around him again!
I kept screaming. I could even care less of the harsh words I was saying or if my voice would strain from it. All that mattered was to be able to let go. I even would try to pinch him anywhere. I was moving harshly but he was so firm. Until his motorcycle halted. My head bumped onto his back. It took me a few seconds to recover.
“Get down.”
“What?”
“Get down and don't make any move.”
My eyes widened inside the helmet. Oh my god! What is this!?
“W-What do you m-mean—”
“Just get down and follow me!” he yelled.
I did get down as he told me. I was trembling and sweating all over. I could feel my heart stretching for the very unfortunate situation. I couldn't even think of a plan or what. I was worried about what he would do!
“Take your helmet off.”
“Why are you doing this! Just take my money and go!”
“Just take your helmet off!”
I jumped and swallowed. I can already feel my dry lips, quivering. The removal of the helmet got me scared even more!
An empty road with concrete and some unfinished walls of buildings surrounded us. The place looks so strange! That unfamiliarity only doubled my fear.
“Where are we?! W-Where did you take me?!”
He is indeed tall but his physique is not that huge. I'm pretty sure Andrus could take him down with his martial arts skills.
“I like you, you know. I'd never seen such a pretty face and body,” he said as he scanned me head to toe.
I shivered, scared for my life. I stepped back, hoping I could get away from him and run as far as I could. But I know that's impossible. With his motorcycle, he could easily reach me without much energy while I'd probably die of heat and running.
“P-Please...” I shook my head, my tears couldn't stop from rolling.
He started moving towards me and I could feel it. This is my end. I'm sure I'm not getting out of here alive. And if I did, I'd kill myself.
As I brace for my end, another motorcycle sprinted in the middle of the short distance between me and the goon. I saw the rider push the goon making him trip. And then in a swift motion, the rider who did that turned his vehicle around and drove fast to me.
“Hop in!” I heard him shout.
It was so quick but I understood his instruction at me. I didn't anymore think of how to do that. Or if this rider is trustable or just another predator. All I wanted was to get myself out of that place, far away from that stupid goon!
“You're okay?” the guy asked me.
I couldn't respond. I was yet in shock. Traumatized. Even my heart couldn't get calmed. My tears had stopped but I still fear for my life. I didn't even mind everything around me or where we were heading. We just suddenly stopped by at a park. But I didn't even care how I look or how many people will see in my state.
“You have to be checked in the hospital.”
I blinked profusely. I certainly would see my Therapist after. But today, I just want to take a break. I need to breathe. And I can't do that in the hospital or anywhere with walls.
“I-I'm fine here,” I said and prepared myself to get down from his motorcycle. The situation I got in made all my senses crumble.
He turned his head to me when he noticed that.
“Where are you going then? I know a hospital near here. I can also set you an immediate appointment with my therapist.”
I blinked twice at that. But no, that's too much.
“I-I'm... I'm r-really fine.”
“Okay. Where do you wanna go?” Then he shifted his weight like he's gonna start his motorcycle's engine again.
I stopped.
“Take me to the beach.”
After saying that, my heartbeat calmed. It's like I said the right codes. It's like my whole system functioned well again.
“Hold on properly” he uttered before starting the engine.
For some reason, I find it hard to question or even deny his intention at me. I should doubt him for saving me. I was hopeless and I knew it'd be my end. I was so sure that no one could save me. I was sure I would die one way or another. But he came without any alarm. He came faster than my after-plans. He came when I lost myself. He was like a guardian angel who formed himself into a human person just to save me.
I was afraid of falling from the motorcycle. I didn't wanna put my hands on him. Let alone wrap my arms around him. All I did was try my best not to lose my balance. It was hard. Instead, I held on to his jacket. It looked like that of the stupid goon, making me feel nauseous just remembering what could have happened if this guy didn't show up.
We reached the beach I told him just in time.
The sun setting to my eyes is one of the best moments in my life and I am very lucky to be privileged to see this kind of phenomenon without waiting for years.
“You fine here?”
I gasped when he removed his helmet. He's overly handsome! I swallowed and looked away. I couldn't look at him. And I'm definitely acting weird but I need not be affected!
“T-Thank you so much for saving me,” I said.
I took my purse and picked up some bills but before I could say anything he already protested.
“You don't have to repay me. Just take care of yourself, and don't just immediately trust your driver or whoever.”
I looked up at him. He's tall. His built is as same as Andrus. And based on his voice, he is just our age! My eyes went to his.
“You should call somebody to accompany you here,” he added.
My eyes blinked when I realized he was the same guy on the motorcycle I saw from my car and this time, I am confident it's him!
His eyes are so much like that guy!
“It's you,” I blurted out.
“Hmm?” His eyebrows raised.
I swallowed and thanked God he didn't hear me. Phew!
“Ah.” And just shook my head. “Anyway, I'm fine here alone. Uh, but you can stay if you want and call some of your friends... my treat! I just want to... I-I just want to return your kindness. Please!” I said.
He smiled lightly and rubbed his temple.
“No, it's really fine. I also need to go somewhere, business matters.”
“Oh my! Okay! Uh! So, how can I thank you?” I panicked a bit because I want him to know how thankful I am for his presence.
I stopped when he touched my arm. “You have already thanked me. Just be extra careful next time.”
He quickly removed his hands on me when I glanced at it. Our eyes met.
He just nodded at me before he went back to his motor. I stayed there and watched him go. And for some reason, I suddenly wanted to know him better. I want to know more than just his name and that business matter.
I placed my hand on my chest and felt my heartbeat. This isn't definitely the same beating I had with fear.
