Chapter 139: The Truth Of What I Am

I stared in dread at the plate set before me. It was so red I could have mistaken it for anything but an explosion ready to occur the minute it sat on my tongue. I glanced over at Darryl who simply took a sip from his cup of coffee in oblivion as I sighed and poked at the overflowing heat source on the plate.

It was more than certain to ignite a fire not only on my tongue but in my stomach and definitely once it inevitably burn me from the inside before making its way out. Sorry for the not so descriptive but still relevant description of how my body cannot tolerate any source of spice, but... that's too much red on one plate.

"D-Darryl... is that all you're having?" I cleared my throat, catching his attention as he lowered his cup to look at me with a smile.
