Chapter 140: How Sharp, It Pierces

I panted, lifting my gaze from the ground to look at Darryl who scaled the hill with ease. I noticed how he had nary a sweat trickling down his back whilst I was drenched in my own sweat. It probably sounds gross, but I have to say that even my underwear felt soaked with sweat. It was a sweltering spring day after all and I was enacting such rigorous activity... Hey—! For an indoors person like me, scaling the hill is considered a rigorous activity! Sigh... Must be nice to be a vampire, I'm sure he doesn't feel as hot as me, since his skin is usually very cold.

I groaned, leaning over as I held my knees while bending over in the shape of an A to catch my breath. Perhaps sensing the lack of the scrunching of my feet on the dirt path behind him, Darryl stopped in his tracks and turned around to face me.

"You should have said something. Let's take a break." Darryl walked over towards me, handing me his handkerchief that he procured from his pocket.
