Iida and the hot-headed blonde kid named Katsuki Bakugo are arguing about manners when the door opens and a green-haired kid pops out. Everyone's attention is passed to him and he suddenly panics. Iida walks to him and tries to introduce himself.
"Good morning! I am Tenya Iida from-" "I heard! I am Izuku Midoriya. Nice to meet you, Iida."
"Midoriya, you realized there was something more in the practical exam, right? I misjudged you!"
A loud exclaim was heard at the door, "Oh, the curly-haired plain-looking one!"
They were conversing with each other when a giant yellow worm with a human face appears behind them. "Go somewhere else if you want to play at being friends." They froze at the worm's sentence and look at him. "This is hero course." Aizawa unzips his sleeping bag and stands up.
"It took you eight seconds before you were quiet. Time is limited." The kids outside went in and sat down.
"This is kind of a sudden but put this on and go out the field." As he shows the students the P.E. uniform. They stood up one by one and went to the changing room. Araki quickly changes into the uniform and went to the field. There, he waits with Momo and Iida as they are the first ones, again, to arrive with Aizawa silently observing him with the end of his eyes.
The students soon arrive and pile up to a crowd and Aizawa begins to explain what they are going to do.
"""A quirk assessment test?""" "How about the entrance ceremony? The orientation?" The students ask boldly as they show their dissatisfaction.
"If you want to be a hero, you don't have time for leisurely events. U.A.'s selling point is how unrestricted our school traditions are. Teachers can run their class however they want."
"You guys are doing this since junior high school. Physical fitness test where you weren't allowed to use your quirks. You can see how impractical and irrational this is, especially for hero course and hero job where quirks are their weapons."
"Bakugo, you finished first at the practical exam, right? What was your best throw when you were in junior high school?"
"67 meters." "Then try doing it with your quirk."
Aizawa hands him a ball and pointed him to a circle. He instructed him to throw the ball and he can do anything as long as he stays in the circle.
Bakugo stretches his arms and took a throwing pose. He then throws the ball accompanied by an explosion and a scream. "DIE…!"
The ball traveled in the air and many of them were astonished at how far it has traveled. Soon, the ball reaches its maximum flight height and starts to fall. Aizawa with his phone is waiting for it to hit the ground before announcing the score to them.
"Know your maximum first. That's the most rational way to form the foundation of a hero." He shows his phone to the students with Bakugo's score of 705.2 meters.
The students all exclaim in excitement and express their happy reactions. Aizawa suddenly interrupts their happiness with a simple warning.
"Fun? Then let's make it even more fun. Whoever comes last place in all eight tests will be judged to have no potential and will be expelled." At this statement, everyone became tense except a few confident. This, of course, includes Araki himself. 'This would be fun.' He smiles at the same time Aizawa smiles looking at his dejected students.
His smile grows even bigger as he senses a presence looking in his direction… to his class's direction to be exact. Aizawa calls all of them and brings them to another location. He also tells them what exercises they would be doing. While single broccoli is panicking, some students went to the starting line to ready for the 50-meter dash.
Araki observes his classmates' performance and starts to ready for his turn. Soon it is already his and he walks to the starting line. He is paired up with Shoto Todoroki.
"Go!" The moment the signal is given, Araki looked as if he would be quite fast. To everyone's surprise, though, he just did jog to the end while his partner uses ice to push himself forward. The contrast between the two is very clear and his classmates don't get what is happening.
[9.35 seconds]
The test continues to the next student and ignores what happened earlier. They finished the 50-meter dash and moved on to the grip strength. There, Araki got 72 kilograms. This time though, he didn't gather that much attention because everyone is focused on their results.
The third test is the standing long test where he didn't reach the end but is nearing it due to his quite tall height and pliable body. He also did okay on the next test which is then repeated side steps.
For the fifth test, the ball throw, one student got an infinity score. But the exciting thing happen when the green broccoli went to throw the ball. As he was about to throw the ball, attempting to use his quirk, he didn't feel the pain he is expecting.
"My quirk-" "I erased it. The practical exam is very lenient and very irrational on scoring the participants too much that a kid like you is accepted." Aizawa's hero identity is then revealed as he lectures Izuku.
"You can't control your quirk, can you? And you want to be a hero? Do you what is going to happen? After using your quirk, you will become incapacitated and would need someone to save you again. In the long run, you might even raise a hospital debt higher than the salary you will be getting."
"Even if it is what you wanted to happen, that is what's going to happen to the people around you. Save you and even endanger themselves in the process. With your power, you can't be a hero." Aizawa releases his hold on the child and returned his quirk. He gave him one more chance to throw the ball.
He holds the ball, took a pose, and throw the ball. The instance it leaves his hand, the ball zoomed in the air and sonic booms can be heard. Everyone is surprised at what happened, specially Bakugo. The kid he knows from birth, that he knows is quirkless, suddenly has a quirk. Aizawa looks and saw his score.
"Teacher, I can still move!" The kid's action fascinates Aizawa as if the kid has just proven him wrong.
