In the vast, ever expanding empty void, nothing apart from its creation happened.
For the first time, in all the time since its creation, something has occurred.
A tiny, black speck has materialized. From afar, it may look small and insignificant, yet it had a consciousness. It pulsed, as if it was a heart, sending energy everywhere around it.
For billions of years, this... being, if it can even be called so, matured, as it observed the universe. Planets, galaxies and superclusters forming, in which there were civilizations beginning, and ending, stars slowly turning into red giants and then imploding into black holes, supernovas, everything happening in the universe was seen, and absorbed into its vast pool of knowledge.
One planet soon peaked its interest - a planet called Earth. It's inhabitants, called humans, were able to utilize this energy. They called it: magic.
He had never seen anything using it apart from planets using it to stabilize their cores.
The humans had to evolve to survive in the wild, and their body evolved an "energy core"
Using said energy core, they could manipulate this power at will. Although it had its limits, it was more than enough to fend for themselves in the wild.
After thousands of years, they developed a civilization with magic at its core. A great mage, called Johanne Clark IV. , who was the fourth descendant of the Clark family, has made great discoveries in the field of magic, most importantly a way to gather energy subconsciously, even while fighting. The year of her birth has started the beginning of a new calendar. It is currently year 1694.
The being has decided. It's first ever words spoken were: "Rebirth"
It was suddenly sucked into a portal of some sort. Falling into the abyss, seeing a white light.
and then...
"It's a happy and healthy baby, Linda." the doctor delivering me said, while healing what I presume is my mother with a spell.
"Why isn't he crying?" Said Linda a 33 year old, about a 1 meter 80 centimetres tall pretty attractive woman with dandelion coloured hair and rose-pink eyes, which was my mother. While on the outside she was serious, on the inside she was basically squealing: 'He's so cute I just want to cuddle him, hand him to me right this instant'.
"Oh, don't worry Linda, while it may be uncommon there's nothing to fear." stated the doctor, in a matter-of-factly way.
"Oh I almost forgot... thank you so much for delivering our baby, Anne. I don't know what we would have done without you" my mother, while saying this, started crying tears of joy.
"Heeeey, what's up little guy! I'm your daddy, say "Daddy."" 'I turned around and saw around a 1 meter 90 centimetres tall, muscular man with hair blacker than the night itself, with blueish eyes staring at me like I was the national treasure and he was a thief.'
"Seriously, Will? He's barely 2 minutes old, do you really think he can talk??" said my annoyed mother.
"Hey, be a little happier, we've got a second kid in the Blake family. I'm just messing around"
"So, have you picked out a name for the little sucker?" asked the doctor
"Yes, his name will be James" said my mother
Something resonated in the being's soul. 'Ah, James. I like that name.' And for the first time, it felt emotion - happiness, and amusement.
After thanking Anne once again, they went home.
Their house was decently large, about 130 square feet. It had a basement, a first floor, a garden with a small shed and many different flowers and lastly a spacious attic where old items were stored.
"Oh hello!" A mysterious girl about 14 years of age with hair a teeny bit lighter than my dad that was about 1 meter 70 tall, with blue eyes said "I'm your sister, Emma! What's your name?"
She obviously expected my parents to answer, but instead...
"Hi, Emma! I went into labour while you were at school, and we didn't want to pull you out of school. I trust your teacher got the message?" said my mother
"Yes, but you haven't answered my question! What's his name?" said my sister
"He's called James!" shouted my dad while carrying a giant baby crib out of the garden shed.
"What the hell is that monstrosity" my mom was obviously flabbergasted
The crib was about 2 meters long, 1 meter wide and 1 meter tall with 2 legs similar to those of a rocking chair adding about 30 cm of height to it
"I figured that he might as well sleep comfortably, so I've been saving up for it for a few months" Said my dad, while carrying the crib to my sister's room.
"Sorry yet again for making him sleep with you" said my mom in an apologetic tone.
"Don't worry, after all I have a much bigger room than you" Said my sister.
It's clear who's genes my sister inherited, always optimistic and happy 24/7.
"Today they taught us about magic in school today!" Said my sister with a really excited tone
"Tell us what you learned then" said my mother
"We learned that there are several levels to a mage's energy core: Black, red, orange, yellow, blue, cyan, silver and white. And that each of them has their respective light and dark version, for example dark red"
Then she suddenly got interrupted by my dad
"What about dark black?" he said with a smirk
"Ugh" groaned my sister, continuing to explain. My mother was actually laughing for the first time.
"We also learned there are seven tiers of magic, an average first tier magic user being capable of manipulating a bath tub worth of water, throwing rocks 5 decimetres in diameter at the speed of 20 km/h or throwing a blinding flare in your enemies eyes. I also did my evaluation and found out i have a dark yellow core! I'm top five in my class!" She said, extremely excited
"That's wonderful, you're truly our daughter!" said my mom, puffing her chest out with pride
So my sister is a mage, she has a orange energy core.
I wonder what kinda core do I have..
