Aunt Jan

I grabbed my backpack and slung it onto my shoulder, looking at the time. It was almost 2 in the morning. I listened to the noises in the house and didn't hear anything.

I took that as my cue and crept slowly out of my bedroom toward my twin brothers room. I gently knocked on his door, trying not to wake up my dad.

He opened the door and looked at me. "Ready to go?" He said and I nodded. We snuck downstairs and out the backdoor, locking it behind us.

Once outside we both took off in a sprint off into the woods. We'd been planning this for a while. Someone told us that 3am was the devils hour and when spirits were on the veil between the spirit world and ours.

It was 2:45 by the time we made it to the cemetary but it would all be worth it. We'd stay here for an hour and go home and tell all our friends about it. That's just how me and my brother were.

We both hopped over the fence and got our flashlights out of our backpacks. We were at the very far end of the graveyard so we would have to walk farther to get to the center.

We walked for a few minutes before I heard a loud crack in the woods by us. I stopped and looked into the woods before looking back to my brother who had continued walking. I looked back at the woods once more before running after him.

We were almost in the middle when I heard something bang in the woods again. I stopped in my tracks again looking toward the woods but once again I saw nothing. I turned back to my brother but he was gone.

I stood there shocked and started running in the way we were going. I was about to call out for him until i tripped over something and landed hard on the ground.

I sat up, shaking my head before looking at the head stone in front of me. It was my Aunt Jans headstone. Out of curiousity I looked at the one by hers, which was covered in vines.

I moved the vines and read the names. "Faith and Dakota Thomas" I gasped loudly and stood up. Something in my mind to me to look at the time, seeing it was 2:57am.

"Dakota!!" I screamed out, running to look around for him. It felt like I was looking forever until I could finally see him in the distance. I ran up to him quickly.

I stopped once I saw him standing there with blood pouring from his chest around a knife. I took a step closer before he fell to his knees.

"Run.." he mumbled quietly before falling onto the ground. I turned and took off running to the gate, trying not to fall through my teary vision.

I got to the gate and just as I threw my stuff over there was a loud scream, only my name was what was screamed. Despite my whole body telling me not to, I turned to see Aunt Jan standing behind me.

She simply smiled and walked up to while I stood there shocked and not moving. My whole body rocked with fear as she held my shoulders and leaned toward my ear.

"It's 3 o' clock," she whispered before cackling and stepping away. I looked down to a knife wedged deep into my chest.

I remember the head stones once more as I feel my body slip away.
