Jaxson

Sometimes I wonder and I think, what's even the point in this? Why are we forced to live in this torture, 5 days a week, 8 hours of those 5 days?

I pull my earbuds out as I close my locker and head off to my first period class. Maybe there's something wrong with my mind or maybe I'm not the only one thinking this.

I walk into class and sit in the back in my lonesome desk. I hear the bell shriek initiating the start of class. I look around at all the kids sitting down and the teacher getting up and start teaching.

I sigh to myself as I look out the window again, willing my thoughts elsewhere. It works until the teachers gives us group work, forcing me to participate.

I scoot my desk with 3 other students and listen as they start talking about our new project. I do try to listen but something seems to be stopping my concentration.

I close my eyes as my ears begin to ring loudly. I shake my head and look back at my partners who are paying no attention to me.

The ringing gets louder. I can't even hear anything around me anymore but I can swear the only thing I hear is, "Jaxson." It starts off as a whisper until I'm sure that's what I'm hearing.

Why Jaxson? I don't understand. My name is Luke. I hit the back of my head a few times, willing it to go away and stop.

Suddenly the noise stops, but before I can even be calm, I receive the worst headache in my life. No, not even a headache, I feel like I've been hit with a hammer repeatedly.

My vision gets blurry and suddenly I can't hold up my own weight. I feel my head land on my desk but everything is so numb, I never actually felt it.

There's quiet until I hear the word once more.

"Jaxson"

Everything goes black.

""""""""

Luke's teacher pov

I'm working with a group when suddenly there's a bang across the classroom. I turn to look and see Luke laid out on his desk.

The whole classroom is quiet as I walk over to him and shake his shoulder gently.

"Luke?" I ask, staring at him. It's quiet before I hear a whisper.

"Not Luke, Jaxson." He suddenly stands up with a wide grin. The whole classroom stares at him in shock before he reaches toward his backpack.

He stand back up and pushes his hair out of his face to see his eyes pure white. Suddenly he screams, a scream of pure agony, hatred and power. It shakes to my soul and I'm sure everyone else can feel it.

He pulls out a large gun and points it directly at me. I stare, still very shook and before I can even move my arms up and try to stop him, he utters that one name again.

"Jaxson," he says as he pulls the trigger. I fall to the ground in pain as I hear more shots and screams all around me, but the world is going black and there's nothing I can do to stop it.
