Trial of the Sea (1)

A locket. Black as night with silver accents dropped onto his palm. Nagao could feel his knees going weak, his strength and resolve were quickly fading away. He knew exactly what this was, he knew exactly what this meant. He wanted to crumple to the ground in pain, the feelings of sorrow, guilt, loss all came flooding back to him all at once.

But he was still in public, he had to remain strong. Still in denial, he opened up the pendant to confirm. Inside, was a small family portrait. Two parents, two sons, and one baby daughter.

Unfortunately, It was his. This was the locket of Masaki Kagura. His first son. The son he cherished more than anything else. His very first pride and joy. The son that had abandoned him.

Nagao's wife couldn't help but remove her mask as well to look at the locket with her own eyes. She felt something stab right through her heart, the same feeling of weakness overcame her, her eyes beginning to water.
