I Can Protect You No Matter What

Isaac didn't like that. Once the baby was born, Whitney wouldn't necessarily be safe anymore.

Amanda didn't like it either. "Is there really no way around that? Children need their mothers. If anything happens to her after it's born…"

Belzaraeth's expression grew pained. She had obviously talked about her regrets not being there for Isaac more at length. Turning her down here might be beyond his capabilities even if he did have to go against the rules.

"My love, I really—"

Tears cropped up in Amanda's eyes. "Please, Belz! The contract stipulates that Isaac has to live safely and happily and he won't be happy if the one he loves is dead!"

Belzaraeth let out a heavy sigh. "PLEASE don't cry. You know I don't know how to deal with crying!"

"Then you'll do it?"

"I don't have another choice, do I? I can't bend the contract more than I already have though. Isaac, you're going to have to mingle your blood or the magic won't work."
