"Captain! Point A is clear!" Fang told me. She was the only vanguard in this team and worked as a scout with Kroos, our sniper. While Lava, Cardigan and I guarded our important device, Sanity.
In this world, like in the game, Sanity needed to fight. Sanity could be said to be a barrier device that helped Arts users minds. Since without it, Arts users could be said to be connected to Sirens Mind… That made them could be mind-controlled by Sirens, or their mind started to hallucinate and become crazy. So without Sanity, it was easy for Arts Users to become Insane.
Especially since we were inside Siren's territory. We must always be careful. Since sometimes, our enemies were the Sirens and mercenaries who wanted to get resources to sell it for the fortunate.
The resource was vital. Not only it can be used to make Arts Users become stronger. It was used to make weapons or technology. Some of these resources were used by Rhodes Island to help those infected too.
In this world, the resources were like a drop item in the game. We could get it from defeating the Sirens. The difference from the game was that the resources we got from the Sirens were the lowest before our engineering department developed those items with their formula.
The thing we got was like Orirock, Sugar Substitute, Ester, Oriron Shard, Diketon, Damaged Device, Loxic Kohl, RMA70-12, Manganese Ore, Grindstone, Incandescent Alloy, Coagulating Gel, Crystalline Component. We got some chips too.
It was material that got from outer space beings, so we couldn't get it from earth territory. So we needed to attack Siren's territory.
It was kinda ironic that in this world, technology really depended on the Sirens. I wonder if this was the Sirens hoping to happen. I didn't really play Azur Lane that much in the past, but as far as I knew. that the Sirens gave their technology to humanity, hoping to make them stronger so they could become stronger too.
That's why they left these resources to make humanity stronger.
What a cunning alien being. Since they also made humanity fight for these, they made humanity conflict with each other and maybe made the strongest humanity possible.
We gathered at point A. Activated Sanity devices and these Sanity devices had something in common. The Sirens didn't like it, and they were always coming to destroy it. So we just needed to defend these before harvesting their resources. Yeah, these mechanics were just like a tower defence game.
When we fought other humanity, too, it could be said that the one that Sanity devices destroyed first will be more likely to lose first. This was why defending Sanity devices was the most essential thing in this world of warfare.
Sanity Devices worked just like in the game. It needed something like a development point, so Arts Users with such high power can use their power. The stronger they can be, it would make Sanity Devices need the energy to cover it, and they needed time to gather that energy, but somehow vanguard class could make that energy in their Arts skills.
It was a bit weird, but this was what happened to these worlds.
"Captain, the Sirens are coming!" Kroos told me through our communication devices.
"Oke, Kroos. Fang just always holds them for a while and after that Kroos activates your arts. Next will be Hibiscus and me who activated the Arts. Cardigan and Lava, the two of you will protect the Sanity Devices." I ordered the team.
Since we were still near the border between the Sirens and humanity. The Sirens in this area were not that strong like inside Siren's territory. So these were like Sirens Minion, I think.
They were species that were a bit mechanical, but they could be an alive-being.
Originium Slug and Infused Originium Slug was the standard around here. The strongest that we need to fight from the data would be Metal Crab and Mutant Giant Rock Spider.
Fang fought the Originium Slug… they always came in such a large number. Fang, with her spear, holds the Originium Slug. She could only keep two of them since not like the game. Their size was actually quite big. Their size was a bit smaller than a small mini car.
The sound of spear Fang was so loud that I could hear it from far away. Well, different than in the game. Fang and Kroos could choose the enemies they wanted to defeat first. Kroos would likely attack the aerial enemies first before attacking Infused Originuim Slug since they can explode and damage a specific area. As the standard, the sniper would attack the enemy that leaked from vanguard and defender.
After that, Hibiscus would activate her healing arts to heal Fang that backed off, and I charged to the front when I could activate my Arts.
As for my power… Just like Amiya or Skadi that had different classes... I could be in any class, but I needed to be registered to Sanity Devices. So I needed to choose before deploying.
This time, I used a guard class with Skadi skills.
[ Swift Strike γ ATK +20; ASPD +20 ]
There was a reason why I was using Skadi skill. It was because the skill I could copy was the skill that I had seen before. Even though I knew a skill from the game if I never saw the skill. Of course, I couldn't use it. Also, I couldn't use the skill summoner just like Kal'tsit did. That was too bad.
Also, since I was still in the early level without promotion. The skill I could use is just one skill. And this wasn't a game where we could just use one skill. In real life, we could use all of those three skills. That's why Skadi was powerful. Especially when she was capable enough to use those three skills at the same time.
I trained for a year in Rhodes Island, but the operator I met was not that much. The six-star rarity elite operators, I met Skadi, Shining and Nightingale. And several five-star rarity operators.
In this world, the difference between those rare stars was how capable they were with their Arts skills. Especially since six stars had three skills rather than below them that had two and one skill.
I came forward and slain the Sirens. Since the enemies in this world were the Sirens. Some enemies never appeared in the Arknights. They were more likely the animal that became a bit mechanical but looked pretty much alive.
And of course, insects too… Most of the Sirens Aerial threats come from Insects like Sirens-being, and most of Sirens ranged-being in this area was a Tiger Caterpillar that attacked our sniper and healer with their spit.
That's why I moved forward and tried to defeat them first.
As our defenders, Cardigan and Lava would defend the Sirens that started to flock since they were blocked by Cardigan and Fang that had moved to the backline.
Our sniper, Kroos, target this time was shooting aerial threats and some Infused Originium Slug that could explode before they damaged our caster and healer.
It was the standard operation that had been trained by Dobermann.
It was a bit chaotic, but with the power of Arts, we could handle it. Especially the healing Arts were quite impressive since they could heal, which was just like regeneration of our wounded to become normal again.
We fought about more than fifty Sirens before annihilating them and after we finished them. We took the resources from their remains. Different from the game, we could get more resources than in the game. We could get one resource from each Sirens, we defeated.
"Captain, I think we finished collecting our resources." Fang reported to me.
"Good, we will move to point B." I told the group that took the break and left the collecting to the logistic team. Fang was quite a serious girl that took her time to oversee the logistic unit.
"This will be tiring…." Kroos commented as she took her time to lie down near Cardigan.
"Well, our group is just a small group that just took 85 Sanity Devices. Around this area we use twelve Sanity devices per point and our mission is to take seven points in three days. We need to harvest Sirens resources too." I once again explained our mission to this group.
In the end, we finished point B just like before and went back to the ships, regrouping and resting. Since the night mission was still dangerous for our group. And the first day of my first mission was over without any accident.
