"That's all. I'll call you when you're ready to leave."

"Thank you."

I left the sergeants office and made my way back upstairs.

The reason I was down there was because of the call I got.

—— Fifteen minutes prior——

*Ring

I picked up the phone and spoke. "Johnathan here. How can I help you?"

"Private, I need you to come to my office at this very moment."

Before I could ask what was up, the sergeant ended the call. With a sigh, I put some slippers on and made my way downstairs.

I pressed the elevator button and waited for the lift to come. Getting inside, I pressed the 'Lobby' button.

Thankfully, there were no interruptions. So, the elevator ride lasted not even a minute.

The doors opened, and I walked out and made my way to the office. When I arrived in front of the door, I knocked and he let me in.

"Sit."

I did as he said and sat down. I was curious why he called me. Did I have another mission? Was it a secret mission?

I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little excited.

"Johnathan. These past couple of months, you've shown us how valuable of an asset you are and how serious you are about protecting humanity. Which is why the General of the Army would like to meet you. But not only that but they have also promoted you. Due to how many missions you competed this past month and how you were able to kill a Tier 4, you've been granted a new position. I look forward to continue working with you, Corporal."

I was shocked.

The General of the entire army wants to meet with me. I knew showing them how fast I was growing would give me benefits, but I never knew it was to this extent.

I skipped two-three ranks. Not only that but I was able to now make connections with the higher ups.

"Wow."

That was all that left my mouth.

"You certainly do deserve it. Anyway, I don't have a badge to give you. The General insisted on giving you it himself.

Also, be ready to leave tonight. We have someone who will fly you to the base the General is at. I'll call you when you're going to leave. Until then, say bye to your friends and family. I don't know how long you'll be with the General for."

I nodded and thanked him before leaving the room. A wide grin was plastered on my face.

—-present——

I was back in my room. I had already started packing my things. "Where you going?"

I heard a voice in the corner of the room and looked that way. "I have to go on an important meeting. I should be back soon."

"But you leave so much."

"Sorry, Ash. But listen."

I walked over and bent down. I placed my hand on his shoulder and spoke again. "Your now an awakened that's close to getting a superpower. I'll tell you what. When I come back, I'll give you a crystal to finally make you awaken. How's that sound?"

Ash's face lit up and a wide smile grew on his face.

"Deal."

"Good. Anyway, Wanna help me pack?"

"Sure!"

I was glad Ash was so independent. It sounded weird since he was so young but it was true. He could do anything I could by himself.

There really never was a time he cried or didn't let me do what I needed to. Which was why I was so grateful.

We finished packing and we still had almost a whole day ahead of us. I couldn't say 'bye' to my friends since they were all out on missions. So, that led me to practice my 'Time Bubble' skill.

I was getting the hang of it and the mental strain lessened a bit every time I practiced. But, it was still far from satisfactory. It still took a bit long to activate and create.

For the next three or four hours, I continued to practice the skill and meditate to regain my mana. Eventually, the phone rang.

I excitedly got up and picked it up.

"Corporal, come to the office. It's time."

He, like always, hung up before I could respond.

I put the phone down and grabbed my luggage. I had little in it. A couple of clothes, including my combat gear. As well as a bunch of ammo for my deagles.

"Bye Ash. See you soon. Also, tell Ivan and the rest that I'll be gone for a while. And if anything happens, go to them for help."

I pulled Ash into a hug before letting go and walking out the door.

I got into the elevator and looked into the mirror. I started recounting my experiences since coming here. Unlike before, I was taller, and more fit.

Not only that but I was far more powerful. I could still remember the first day I got my ability. How I always had to spare every ounce of mana to use it.

The doors behind me opened and I walked out. I made my way towards the office and knocked when I got there.

"Come in."

I opened the door and walked inside. There, I saw a tall, skinny man with bags u see his eyes. He wore a green camo army uniform and had badges that showed he was a sergeant.

He was sitting in a chair and looked at me with bored and tired eyes. It seemed like he was evaluating me. He looked me up and down and nodded.

"I'll leave him in your hands Jeff."

The man nodded and got up. He walked passed me and I followed him after a quick 'goodbye.'

We walked out of the building and made our way to the back. There, a two-seater plane stood. "Follow."

I did as the man said and followed him inside the plane. He got in the front and I sat right behind him.

"If you have trouble breathing out the mask beside you on. It'll take two hours to get there."

"Ok."

The man took that as a sign and closed the roof on us. He then started the engine.

The plane started moving forward. I watched as the sergeant, Jeff, pulled the steering wheel up, lifting the plane into the air. With that, we started flying.
