Slime Situation

Thadump Thadump

A heart feels as if it's beating harder in times of stress, it'll beat faster when in fear, it may feel heavy in times of anxiety.

Alex was feeling this all at once for his first battle. He has just started his battle, the first swing of his knife only fractions of a second away from landing on its first target. The glistering of distorted blue light shining through the slime imprinted itself in his mind. The knife eventually sliced through the thin membrane of the slime popping it like a balloon.

Just like the sudden popping of the slime, Alex also zoned back into reality. With the sudden remembrance of the slime being acidic, Alex dodged most of the falling goo with only small droplets landing on his arm. The droplets being in small amounts didn't cause any damage with only the dead skin on his arm being dissolved.

There is currently a huge quantity of slimes, but Alex quickly picked up the strategy of attack and step-back. Alex didn't think too much in battle with the slimes, he just went with the flow, it would appear he had a knack for combat.

Adrenaline was pumping through his veins, Alex was no longer afraid and found within him a passion. He wouldn't know how to describe this feeling yet because this was completely new to him.

Before his transmigration, Alex has never found a hobby he liked to do for a passion. Whenever somebody asked him "What do you want to do in the future?" he wouldn't know how to respond; so he always just came up with something to quell their interest. But, as of right now, Alex has still yet to find his passion. While at the moment he may be enjoying the battle, how will he feel about doing this over and over? He wasn't so sure about this answer yet.

These thoughts were brief, but his once concerned face of him has slowly turned into a grin, he was enjoying the heat of battle. But this wasn't the only change, he may soon need a new pair of clothes. The slow accumulation of the constant rain of slime has worn away his clothes with the strings holding them together weakening.

Olen who has run into the village bringing a goblin horde alongside him has also brought in the eerie looks from the villagers.

'Did I survive? Where am I?' Olen thought to himself. When he looked around to check his surroundings he realized he was currently laying inside an empty wagon. He heard sounds of fighting outside and what smelled to what he thought was blood.

"Right, I brought goblins… what should I do?" He laid still, he hasn't had a chance to take in his current situation yet. Ever since Olen woke up he has been chased and his daily activity since all of yesterday has only been running and hiding. But Olen wasn't like Alex at being so quick to adapt, now that most of the adrenaline is gone Olen was at a complete loss. He was confused and scared about this completely unordinary situation, what could he have done to even prepare for such things?

Olen's mentality felt like a small boat in a raging storm, he didn't like the feeling of being alone in this situation either. 'I wonder, was I the only one to survive the crash? Did some of my other classmates survive? Did Alex survive?'

Eventually, Olen decided to explore as it was always something he's wanted to do, and now he has a whole new world ahead of him. He wants to find out if he's still alone, he wants to find out more about this world, why was he here, how did he survive? He was sure that by exploring he may find answers, he told himself this to bring him some comfort and a goal to achieve; however, this goal's foundation is shaky at best just like his current mental state.

He would begin his journey here at this village, and he should start by helping in some way or form!

Alex has been slicing away at the slimes for what was probably about 5-10 minutes now, and the wave of slime always just felt never-ending.

'How can I deal with these guys faster? My skin is starting to itch and burn in some places… right, do slimes burn?' Alex's thought process was from a game he used to play where slime could also be used as a fuel source for torches, and maybe, just maybe fire is their greatest weakness by that logic.

Alex decided to back away from the fighting to catch a small breather and to clear his head to think of a solution.

'Maybe a wall of fire? How will I do that? …I know!' Alex hoped his plan would work, he chose something else other than a wall of fire, gunpowder! On his run before the start of the battle he has seen a small red keg of gunpowder on a wagon, maybe he could ~borrow~ it.

Alex was quick on retrieving it, it seemed whoever owned the wagon wasn't there so it was an easy ste-... borrow? He also grabbed a still-lit lantern on his quick retrieval and ran back to the battle.

While the battle with the slime wasn't particularly difficult, it was a huge hindrance towards the newly arrived goblin horde that had to be dealt with quickly.

Popping the cork on the keg and spilling some of it near the slimes, Alex dropped the keg on top of the small pile and yelled "Back away! There'll be an explosion!"

"...huh!? Explosion!? What do you think you're doing!?" Some guard shouted as he ran away to escape the explosion radius.

Unworried about their thoughts Alex threw the lit lantern at the gunpowder. He hoped the slimes are flammable… 'Wait, wouldn't the fire cause another huge problem? …I hope not.'

Alex immediately ran away when he threw the lantern to escape the explosion as the lantern flew in the air.

Ccrrzzt… Boom!

The sound of glass breaking and a loud boom could be heard amidst the sounds of battle, a bright flame suddenly emerged near the slimes looking like a miniature sun.

Alex didn't run quite far enough to escape the shockwave and flew to the ground as if he was violently pushed. But his plan did work as the slimes burned, the flames coming from the slimes were blueish-orange. The slime tidal wave was put to a quick stop as the flames spread rapidly. Surprisingly the flames never left where the slime was not causing many random fires, so the worry of a huge fire spreading could be slimmed.

"Haha! It worked!" Alex cheered as his makeshift plan has worked. There were a lot of flaws and it was honestly very stupid to do, but it did work.

But he soon stopped as he heard yelling from the village, some goblins seemed to have broken through, Alex decided as he was still riled up to help with the goblins. He felt high off of battle, while he has only battled slime, he's never felt so alive.

With his heart racing, and his legs running, Alex followed into another battle once again.
