Chapter 2

"Ugh, man I get we were late but the amount of work they are having us do is unreal." Jen said as she carried a stake of papers to the desk. "I wonder why they decided to throw this event with only two weeks of planning." Jen sat down on the chair and rubbed her temples.

"Honestly, it was worth it. I needed that coffee. I'm almost done with school. My finals were awful and longer than they should have been.At least it is done with. As soon as i find a job, im leaving this town." Rae said as she drank the last of her iced coffee.

"Remind me whyyyyyyy, you decided to live here again and not in a dorm. Your campus is 2 almost 3 hours away. Why this town? " Jen set up and reached for her coffee.

"The rent is cheaper than campus living and I'm not a huge fan of dorm parties." Rae glanced at Jen

Jen looking back they started to laugh.

"Who are you kidding? You are such a fun hum-humorious person to be around ! You are a party." Jen anxiously prayed that rae didnt hear her slip up.

Rae had long known Jen wasn't from the states and often over looked Jens slip ups. Rae just smiled and chuckled at Jen.

" Thanks Jen, honestly I was just drawn to the town specifically to the old run down hotel. To be honest. I'm not sure why but I feel like someone is coming and I need to be here."

Jen looking at Rae curiously " Rae where are you fro-"

" HONESTLY girls, what do we pay you for if all you're going to do is sit here talking? Rae we know you are busy and finals just wrapped up. So im going to be easy on you today.Jen however, those papers are confidential and you were supposed to take them straight to Jaxs." Amara sighed and walked to the counter. She handed Rae a 100 dollars.

"Can you please go and buy another round of coffee and some donuts?Jaxs and I were up very late and I refuse to drink that bolied brown slime in a glass he calls coffee."

"Sure. This is over what it cost though a 20 should be enough for all of us to have a drink and a donuts."

Amara glares at Rae " You are a full time student. Who lives ALONE and works full time at a run down hotel. You don't get tips and make barely over 20 an hour. Use the rest to fill the car tank."

Rae smiles, thanks Amara and leaves.

As Rae leave in her car. Amara who was watching very intently glares at Jen.

Jen Sheepishly smiles and attempts to hide behind the stack she had just put down.

"Jennn" Amara calls while twirling around.

"After that stunt you pulled last night, it seems you didn't learn about being intrusive. Rae is human. Not only is her life short. She can't be distracted"

Jen starts to blush at the thought of how intimate she saw Amara and Jax dancing.

"While.... as I said last night. I felt the ground move. And since we are in the DESERT and there is NOTHING around us. On top of that room 42 did not tip after ALLLLLL that hard work on explaining the overly complicated English language. The time I spent on the difference of their,they're and there was unreal ! How ungrateful.Amara why did you hire Rae.? She is the only human who has ever been allowed to work here. Not that I don't enjoy her company. I'm just curious."

Amara sighs " honestly jen, when jaxs and i first saw her. We were just so drawn to her. We cant explain it." Amara quickly snaps out of her thoughts. cough. "Once again Jen. The shaking or as you say MOVING GROUND.which is the unprofessional way of saying that, I'll have you know. Was from their vehicle leaving the ground."

"Maybe if you had told me they checked out early. I would have known that and not have freaked out." Jen who felt ashamed of her actions. Blushed and buried her face into her hands. After a few seconds she started to laugh at what had happened and how stupid she must have looked.

Amara loved Jen and was so thrilled when the concil sent her. Amara assumed it was another academic. However Jen was more of a free spirited warrior. Not the smartest compared to others from their home planet. Jen was fiercely loyal and a quick learner. Jen had grown on Amara and made her laugh uncontrollably countless times. Amara smiled at all the memories her and Jaxs shared with Jen.

Amara just looked at Jen, chuckled and waited for her coffee to arrive.
