"Yeah," Dr. Mattias said, nodding. "Sounds like you're having twins."
I swore my heart stopped. Having one baby was equal parts exciting and terrifying, but having two? "How?" I asked. "I mean. . ."
My mind went blank. What was I even trying to ask?
"Multiple births run in Trent's family. He's a triplet himself," Doctor Mattias said as she wiped the goop from my stomach and pulled my shirt back down. "Combined with the magical assistance you two had. . ." She turned her back to us and jotted something down in my chart. "I definitely want to schedule an ultrasound in two weeks, just to make sure the babies are developing as they should be, and we'll try to determine the sex, too."
I sat there, blinking with disbelief. I was having twins. I didn't know if I was happy or nauseous.
