"Ready?" Trent asked, taking my hand as we headed into the hospital.
I nodded. We were meeting with Doctor Mattias for a routine check-up, and I wasn't anywhere close to nervous. I was more excited than anything else. This was the first time Trent had been able to come with me.
Within minutes, we were checked in, and a few minutes later, Doctor Mattias entered the room. She stopped short when she saw Trent; then she smiled broadly.
"You're back," she said with a mix of surprise and delight. "That's fantastic. It's so good to see you."
"Thanks," Trent said. He stood beside the hard bed I was laying on, my hand still clasped in his.
Doctor Mattias closed the door and walked farther into the room. "How're you feeling, Chloe?" She pulled a stool up to the other side of the bed and sat.
"Pretty good," I said. "I get tired easily, and I've been having some really strange dreams lately, but other than that, I'm good."
