Chapter 455: Happy, Part 1

Abby was working today, and then she had a couple of classes, so Isach came over alone. "Whoa. What happened in here?" he asked when I opened the door to let him inside.

I gave him the abbreviated version of what Trent and I had come home to find, leaving out the part about Trent and Jax fighting.

"I can assure you, my father didn't do this," Isach said.

"How can you know that for certain?" Jax asked, arms crossed. He now stood in the kitchen, far enough away from me and Trent to keep the peace.

"Because he never gets his hands dirty like this. I mean, he might have orchestrated it, sent someone to do this for him, but he wasn't in this house," Isach said with a shake of his head. "In fact, other than Chloe, there are no traces of Zoya magic here."

"Which means that girl was made to look like Chloe before she was brought here," Trent said, rubbing the back of his neck. "And her heart was ripped out, which, to my knowledge isn't something witches usually do."
