"I'm going to admit Chloe for observation for a couple of days. We're going to make sure she's hydrated, that there's no infection in her body, and we're going to monitor her bleeding," she said calmly. "If, after a couple of days, the bleeding has stopped and the babies are doing well, we can let her go home."

"How. . .?" I cleared my throat. "I was fine. How did this happen?" I asked around sobs.

Doctor Mattias rested her hand on my shoulder and gave me a sympathetic smile. "Usually, an abruption like this happens after some sort of accident or severe trauma to the stomach. But we all know this isn't a normal pregnancy." She sighed. "You've got a small frame to begin with, and you're carrying twins that were conceived magically."
