Chapter 474: Escape Plan, Part 2

In a sudden blur, Trent was in front of me, body tense. A deadly snarl erupted from him, and terror slithered through my veins. Flashbacks of our honeymoon bombarded my mind, and I reached for Trent's arm. I was not going to lose him to Dante again. I couldn't.

"What're you doing here?" Trent asked.

He didn't seem the least bit surprised to see Dante alive and well, which only confirmed my earlier suspicions that Trent had been hiding something from me. Now I knew what.

Dante held up his hands in a show of surrender. "I'm not here to cause any trouble," he said.

Slowly, Trent moved one arm behind his back. At first, I thought he was going to take my hand, but instead, he reached into his back pocket and pulled out his cell phone. His movements were so effortless and smooth that to Dante it probably appeared as though Trent was simply reaching for me.

"Right," Trent said, still standing in front of me like a shield. His finger moved across the screen of his phone.
