Chapter 493 - Counting Our Losses

Somewhere in the distance, Isach's voice broke through the fog of my mind. I couldn't understand what he was saying, but it sounded an awful lot like, "Use your emotions."

That made no sense. I had to be dreaming. Or maybe I was dead, and I was simply imagining things as I waited to meet my maker. Maybe I was in Hell. A fist connected with my face, causing my head to snap back. Yup, I was definitely in Hell.

Suddenly and violently, my entire body stiffened. My back arched so hard and fast I was positive I would snap in two. I screamed in pain. Then, warmth replaced the numbness in my limbs, and energy surged through me.

A flood of emotion choked me. My skin tingled and prickled. Things were blurry for a mere second before shifting into a sharp focus. I could feel every beat of my heart, hear every platelet that swam through my veins.
