Sara - A Big Step

Sara’s stomach clinched as she stepped down into the living room. After Roy had dropped her off several hours earlier, she had quickly done her chores and then hidden away in her room. She had even locked the door so if Sue came home early, she would not bother Sara. She needed that time alone.

Several times she had stared at the ring on her hand. She was engaged. Never had she really dreamed that at sixteen she’d be planning to get married. The very idea had her sick to her stomach. Was she really ready for this? Was she foolish for thinking otherwise?

Now she had to tell her mother. That would not be a pleasant task. She had already expressed her displeasure of Sara seeing someone more because it took her away from her chores. Sara also thought it had to do with a little jealousy. Sara was happy while her mother was always miserable.
