Two weeks after deciding to move to Roy’s family farm, they were packed and ready to head out from Dayton. The truck had been filled with gas and loaded with their belongings. Sara took most of what they had bought for their little apartment though they might not need it at the farm. Roy had said his parents were leaving most of the furnishing behind. She wanted those items because they represented her new life with a new husband.
The new day had barely dawned when Roy and Sara rose and packed up the last of their belongings. Rachel had cooked them breakfast before they waved goodbye.
The hours were slow as they traveled down the road past small towns and farms. Sara willed the truck to move faster and time to rush them forward. As it grew dark, Roy found them a hotel where they spent the night and rose early again the next morning. They were only six hours away.
