Distraught

Natalie came over and placed her palm on Maya's shoulder giving her the much needed comfort she desired.

She knew her friend very well. To everyone she could be that cruel and arrogant boss. Everyone basically thought of her as a snub but to her, Maya was someone who was lonely. She had been deprived of her mother's love ad a child because her mom only cared about money and nothing else therefore, she hadn't had the time to take care of Maya let alone shower her with the love and affection she needed as a child.

She has never experienced what it felt like to be loved and that's why she's so cruel to everyone around her. She's basically isolated herself from the world which has left her lonely. She was a lone soul.

Natalie felt Maya pulsating and instantly began patting her gently on her back.It wasn't a good sign because she knew hyperventilation was very dangerous for Maya and everyone around her.

"Maya, I think you should take a quick walk around the office. You might feel better." Natalie suggested.

Maya three Emma a sharp gaze and stepped out of the office.

"Sorry about that. I know Maya must have hurt you by her words, addressing you as a Plain Jane and all but I promise you, it's not her fault. You used to be her best friend so you should know that Maya is not usually like this. You and I both know that this is not the Maya of before. This is not her.

Maya used to be a gentle, carefree, kind and loving person but now, she's this rude, arrogant, snobbish, lonely and a hellish one of a kind angry person.

She gets riled up by the littlest of things and the events that occurred today wasn't some menial or trivial thing.

She had put in a lot of effort, time, blood and sweat. She had worked day and night to secure that deal and now...now all efforts has been lost.

...

Emma stood in the vast office all alone. It took her quite a while to process everything that had just taken place.

"I'm sorry." She finally whispered after quite a while.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry. It's all my fault! It's my fault, it's my fault..." She repeated continuously like a broken radio.

"I'm cursed! I'm a burden to the world. My existence has brought nothing but pain and suffering to everyone around me. My life is full of nothing but bad luck and misery. I'm a curse to the world!" Emma repeated in a distraught state.

"I was only five_ I was only five when both my parents passed away. They were killed right in front of my eyes and I couldn't save them. My life has been a wreck ever since their tragic demise. Why? Why do I carry on living? I don't want this kind of life, I don't!" At this point, Emma finally broke down. She had gotten to a stage where she couldn't control it anymore and decided to let it all out.

She shut her eyes tightly reminiscing all the painful memories of her childhood.

"Mom, why did you leave me? Why mom? Why?!" Emma uttered through strangled breath.
