Pilot 5/10

Cody looked at Rose. "Are you fine with staying here for a bit?" He asked while patting her shoulder, Rose looked up at him. "Y-yeah. Don't die in there." She smiled.

He grabbed Rose and helped her towards a tree, he laid her down gently. "Stay here unless it's really important." She looked at the horde, knowing she would slow them down. "Okay." She spoke.

Cody looked at Dani. "You ready now?" He pulled out his dual blades and Dani took a deep breath. "As ready as ever…" Dani drew out her bow and locked an arrow in.

He started to walk like a walker, Dani did the same. Soon enough they entered the horde, her heart was racing. It was as if her heart was going to come out and run away. She needed to save her sister so she went onwards.

Cody grabbed Dani's arm so he wouldn't they won't split apart. Dani looked up at Cody and smiled slightly, Cody nodded and they entered the apartment building. The walkers were drawn by the fire.

Cody pulled out a cloth and poured some water on it, he handed it to Dani. She took it and covered her mouth with it.

A walker limped past them, fire covered the walker's body, their flesh burnt off. Within five seconds it fell on the ground, dead.

Cody pushed forwards, he didn't have a cloth so he was close to coughing. He took off his mask and looked at her. Dani nodded and gave him the cloth. He nodded and took his turn.

Dani entered the stairwell and aimed her bow, firing. A walker toppled down the railing and fell. Luckily the stairwell wasn't really on fire.

Cody handed the cloth back to Dani and smiled. "There were things you haven't told me." Dani spoke. "About?" He looked at Dani.

"Hayden." Dani glanced at him and started to run up the stairwell, Cody followed her. "Well… Hayden's a story for another time. Right now let's focus on finding your sister and get the hell out of here."

Dani agreed with a nod, they reached a door which was left open. Dani ran in and the heat kicked in, it was scorching up there. Cody went in, there were loads of walkers, some of them collapsed simultaneously.

Cody looked in the distance and stared at the broken window. "She escaped I think." Dani nodded as the roof started to break apart. "Shit." She muttered and the blazed walkers turned their attention to Cody and Dani.

"Did the walker shit work or not?" Dani looked at Cody and handed him the cloth, Cody put the cloth against his mouth and muttered. "It's too dried up due to the heat, we likely smell like both one of them and one of us. Plus the sounds of the roof breaking drew them to us. So in a small explanation… run." Cody kicked one of the blazed walkers, right when he kicked the walker a chunk of the roof fell and brung the walker down.

"Badass." Dani snickered and ran down the stairs, Cody followed and put the cloth in backpack. They reached the lobby and more of the blazed walkers paid attention to them. "Shit." Cody grabbed Dani's hand and ran through them.

They ran through the horde, suddenly a gunshot went off. Dani clenched her shoulder, his eyes widened. She just got shot. She screamed in pain which attracted the horde.

Cody grabbed Dani and ran to where Rose is, Their day was just getting worse and worse. Rose was now missing. Another gunshot went off but it hit the tree where Rose once was.

He turned around and spotted someone on the rooftop. "Tsk." He grumbled and put his dual blades in their sheath.

Dani winced and tried to tend to her wound. "Dani, here." He grabbed one of the walkers that headed towards them and bashed their head against the concrete. He dragged the body over to Dani and laid it on top of her. "Stay here. I'm going to get answers." He pulled out his pistol and ran into the building where the guy was spotted.

The building was silent… and dark, the only thing he could hear was the growls of hungry walkers which were heading towards the building, meaning Cody had to be quick.

He went into a room with his gun raised, from what he could tell it was a house mixed with a store. Some of the shelves haven't been touched since the apocalypse. Some were toppled over.

Cody went to the next room, the room reeked of corpses. He looked and saw a dead couple, their deaths were recent since they only started to decay. Flies were flying around their bodies.

They likely opted out from what he could tell due to the written message on the wall, Cody stared at it and began to read it out loud. "Worlds gone to shit, got bit. Might as well quit." He frowned and noticed there was no gun, it was missing.

He turned around and the guy he saw previously tripped him to the floor and aimed a rifle at Cody, that was the gun the couple used to opt out. "Hayden's been keeping an eye on you for a while." He snickered. "Your friend will also die soon, she was poisoned."

Cody's eyes widened and he grabbed the rifle and kicked it away, he stood up and shoved the guy against the wall. He was quick for a 16 year old.

Cody pressed one of the dual blades against their neck. "And you're going to tell me the antidote."

Cody pressed so hard that a little bit of blood seeped out. The guy raised his hands. "We don't have an antidote. But she will be dead within a week. The poison we created kills the victim very slowly." He giggled and Cody pressed harder.

"I'm not fucking around bud. I'm going to take you in for questioning." He growled and picked up the rifle.

"What are you going to do with that?" The guy spoke and smirked. "This." He aimed the butt of the rifle and smacked him in the face with it, knocking him out cold.

Cody found rope in the store and tied him up. He exited out of the back and found Dani still laying there. "Why didn't you kill him?" Dani asked and shoved the walker away, most of the horde was gone with around 20 or so still wandering around.

Cody looked at Dani. "For questioning, he's in Hayden's group. And he poisoned you, from what he told me you have a week left to live unless we found an antidote." He frowned and Dani's eyes widened, knowing the chances of her survival is slim to none.

"There's a cabin nearby. We will interrogate him there." Dani spoke and Cody nodded. "Let's go."
