Ch. 62 Colt Riess

-5 years later, according to the 360 day Eldian calendar

Pov.

-Colt-

"Again" dad repeats

"Mgh*" I grunt

"That's enough!" Mom steps in between us

"We're training. Step aside, woman."

"It's time to take a break" she says

"I-I'm fine mom" I force myself back to my feet, though my legs were so wobbly I think I'll fall over

"No, baby. You're bleeding, look you can't even stay up right" she pats me down

"Out of the way, Historia" dad says again

"No! You've been putting him through hell ever since he turned five. You can't be so hard on him!" Mom shouts

"I want the boy to be strong. It's better then having him lay around, doing nothing" dad says

"Doing nothing? Take him out to eat or play with the boy. He's only a child, value this time you have wit"

"A child?" dad asks as he walked over to us

"Yes he's too young for you to be so rough on him" mom looks up at him as he gave her a nasty glare

"A child?" He grabs her throat "so what?

Mom doesn't dare respond, not when he got like this

"Look, as a father it's my job to make sure my son is at the top of the food chain"

My heart was pounding I couldn't stand to watch him treating her like this

He began tightening his grip

His eyes dilate almost as if he enjoyed watching her struggle for air

It was terrifying, the look in his eye paralyzed me, even though I wasn't in his line of sight

Mother began looking pale as she tried wording something out, it was when we heard someone open the hallway door

Dad finally lets go

"You worry about being a mother and let me worry about raising our son"

Mom drops to her knees

I head towards dads side not wanting him to hurt mother any further

But mom yanks my arm back "were going to see Carla"

Dad only watches as she made me follow closely behind her

"Th-that idiot" mother sniffs as she lead the way

I watch as she wipes the tears off her face

"Why did he turn out this way?" Her voice trembles

Mom says the reason dad was so mean was cause he has horrible dreams at night

"C'mon Colt"

I watch papa sit down on a bench

I watch as he sets his hands on his head as if he had another one of those headaches

-2 years later

"Slpslpslp" I feel something on my face

"Hehe" I giggle "heya there Thor" I wrap my arms around my doggy

Half his body was white and the other half was black but on the side that his fur was black his eye was white and the side where his fur was white his eye was black

He looked super cool he wasn't much younger than me, Odin and Friia had him about three months after I was born

"Oh you're so cute, huh boy?" I squish his cheeks together

After stretching I get up out of bed before heading outside

Normally I saw dad out in the indoor garden, practicing his martial arts but today he wasn't there

"Hey, where's dad?" I ask the guard standing watch of the hallway

"Courtroom, down stairs, young master."

"Hey wait, it's today!"

I remember there's supposed to be a super important meeting

"W-wait young prince, careful you mustn't run" he shouts as I hurry down stairs

After I finally made it to the room that was right beside the courtroom, with Thor's help I crawled into the vents

"I can't reach you" I whisper trying to pull Thor up with me

"Odin!" I whisper shout as I see him walk by

He stops for a second before walking backwards

"Hmm?" He tilts his head, wondering why I was inside the roof

"Thor!" I point at Thor

Odin walks over, lowers his head for Thor

"Woof!" Thor barks as he hops on his dad's snout

"Thanks buddy" I giggle as I help Thor inside with me "alright, lead the way, boy"

He begins sniffing around till we finally stopped at an opening

I peek inside, seeing father on one side of the courtroom and mother on the opposite side

"I said what I said!" Father slams his fist onto the table "we will take the battle to them before they decide to set a single foot on our land!"

"You already accepted the Azumabito clan's peace treaty, why don't you pass these other nations as allies?!" Zachly shouts

"I won't stand to ally myself with Marley, the country that tried to extinguish us!" Father growls "I'm telling you they'll only use that as an excuse to finish what they started!"

"We know that, but we won't stand a chance with the technology we possess now, allying ourselves with the enemy to ensure peace for the time being is the best strategic play"

"We have the power of seven Titans! We can easily infiltrate Marley, the largest superpower to date and take back the remaining two after that, we'll reign supreme!" Dad shouts

"It's the best play, General Zachly" Armin agrees "studies have shown that in twenty years from now nations will have bombs capable of destroying entire cities they'll surely use that power to extinguish us for good" he says

"It's why we allied with the Azumabitos. They have sworn to assist in our military strength and the advance of our technology" Zachly says

"Even so we'll still need another 50 years to have our technology up to date" Armin adds

"I'm telling you we have to fight now before we get too comfortable with peace!" Dad growls

"Enough, it's over Kara. We have Queen Historias vote, she is of royal blood. You have no power against that" Pixis says

"Royal what?! If you want to talk about bloodlines I'm closest to Ymir. If anything she is my half sibling!" Dad argues

"That hasn't been confirmed, there is no way of ever knowing if you really are the child of the Founder, Amaterasu" Pixis says

"What?!" Dad digs his fingers into the wooden table

Before he said anything stupid, Hange stands up

"All his life he was discriminated against, even the people were never fully on his side as king all because they believed he shared the same blood as the Son of Satan. I find it outrageous that now, when you see convenience you dare suggest he isn't."

"Either way, this meeting has reached its peak. Since Lord Amaterasu and Queen Historia have different views on the matter we decided to take a different approach and create a voting system as agreed, you now have been outvoted three to one" Zachly says

"Ghk" dad clenches his fists so hard his hands began bleeding

"Fine," dad stands up. "You are all dismissed"

"Aww man I missed it all" I frown

I crawl back out and with Odin's help he takes me back up stairs where I saw mom go inside her and papas bedroom

"Stay here" I whisper at Odin and Thor before heading inside

"Hey mom" I smile though she didn't look so happy

"Oh, hey Colt" she finally smiles

"Look at this" I pull out the damascus knife dad bought me the last time he took me out of town

"He bought you a knife?" She raises an eyebrow

"Yeah, it's super sharp" I giggle excitedly

"Give it" she holds her hand out

"What?" I step back

She snaps her fingers

"Fine" I frown, placing it on her hand

"Look I don't want you getting hurt okay?" She pulls me into her arms

"Yeah-yeah, I know" I pout "is dad angry again?"

"Yeah" she sighs as the bathroom opens

"Go outside, I need to have a word with your father"

"Aw man" I frown "fine I'm going to see if Sasha's still here, so she'll teach me to use her bow." I giggle before going on my way

I close the door, but leave it cracked open just enough for me to be able to peak inside

"What do you want?" dad asks

"I wanted to ask you a few things"

"Like what? Why didn't you speak up during the meeting? You kept your mouth shut the entire time"

"Because, I told you I'm not going to change my stand," mom stands up "what this country needs is peace not war, Kara"

"This country needs freedom, and we'll never have it by doing nothing" Dad gets in her face

"Hmph*" mom turns around "look I'm not here to argue with you. I just wanted to ask how this Titan power of yours works"

"Oh… well, I either have to consume either the vessels or the Titans heart"

"So in that case we only have six Titans in our possession. The founding, female, armor, attack, the colossal in you and the colossal inside Armin" she says

"Beside the founder you inherited, you consumed Reiner, Bertolt, and Annie's powers, even so we managed to pass Bertolts power to Armin before he died" she says "Hange said that was cause the power resides inside the heart and spine so it was still possible to transfer the power to Armin" she says

"Right, what are you trying to ask?"

"Who's the seventh?"

"Seventh?" Dad asks

"You said we have the power of seven Titans in our possession, did you not? You couldn't capture the beast nor the cart during the battle of Shiganshina so who else did you consume?"

"Oh… I made a mistake. I meant six, okay?" Dad shrugs it off

"You wouldn't make a mistake like that, and zachly surely would jumped to correct you on the matter. So tell me, what did you do to Ymir?" Mom turns to face him

"Ymir? She was our enemy, she tried taking Eren and wanted to take the founding Titan"

"You killed her?"

"She was our enemy" dad repeats

"Did you kill her?" She asks again

…

Dad doesn't respond knowing the answer was obvious

"Why? Why did you lie to me? … all these years…" mom tears up

"Cause I knew how you'd react!" dad growls

"How'd you think I would react?!" Mom shouts back "I loved her more than anything, she was like a sister to me, how could you?!" She cries

"If I didn't take her power then someone else would've. She was dead from the very moment she took that power from their comrade"

"But you didn't even try saving her"

"She stabbed me, why would I want to do that?!" He growls

"You knew how much she meant to me and you still killed her!"

"I told you it was either her, or me!"

"And you took the easy route like you always do! Nothing is worth a damn thing to you, not even me!"

"Wh-what?"

"Don't you dare go there, you know how hard I'm trying to raise our son!" Dad grabs her blouse

"Shut up, it's not about that! You know exactly what I'm talking about!" She slaps his hand aside "you're always disappearing every four to five days and no one ever knows where you are!"

"I'm only going to the mountains. Unlike you I'm caged up inside this kingdom because I'm the Founding Titans vessel"

"You honestly believe I'm an idiot?! Who do you take me for? I know you a-and Sasha have something going on!"

"S-Sasha? I don't know what your talking about." He looks away

"S-stop lying, and just tell me the truth. I've seen how you.. how you touch her like she's your… your woman" she sniffs "j-just tell me what she does that I can't!"

"It's… none of your business" Dad turns his head away

"None of my what?!" Mom clenches the knife with her hand "I'm your wife, of course it's my business!" She puts her foot down

"Then just don't worry about it alright?!" Dad growls

"I'M SO SICK OF YOUR SHIT!" Mom lunges at dad

Blinded by rage she digs the knife she took from me into his abdomen

No mom…

What did she just do?

She just… stabbed him

What is she thinking?

"I hate you, I hate you, I hate you" mom pounds her fists on dad's chest "why are you like this? Tell me, tell me, tell me!" she stops for a second "I-I know your not a bad person, but it's so hard to believe that."

Dad grabs her wrist

Her eyes widen after seeing what she had done

"I-I'm sorry, p-please let me" she looks around

"No, I'm leaving." Dad finally says

"What?"

"I'm sick of being caged up in this kingdom. I'll free this nation my way, alone if I have to" He pulls the knife out of his abdomen and tosses it onto the bed

I stumble back

Mom just stabbed him

No, no, no, that didn't just happen

The door creaks open

"D-dad?!" I gasp

…

"Come with me, Colt" he finally says

My eyes widen "y-yessir"

"I'm sorry Kara… please I-I-I don't know what I was thinking!" Mom sobs as she wraps her arms around dads arm

"Off me, woman." he shakes his arm with enough strength she slammed her head into the wall

"Agh!" Mom gasps "PLEASE, DON'T LEAVE ME! KARA!" she cries at the top of her lungs

"Please sir you need medical attention" the maid says as he left a trail of blood behind us

…

"Colt!" Mother shouts as the gates open for us "Don't worry, baby. Mommy will find you, okay?!"

"Mom.." I tear up

Where is dad taking me? I don't want to go. I want to stay with mommy

"Don't cry, boy." Dad growls "You're a man, so act like one."

"S-sorry… sir"
