The Real Beginning

Lanis held his head as he opened his eyes with a splitting headache. Suddenly he remembered what had happened as his eyes flashed open. He saw that he was in a forest with no idea where he was or what was happening. Suddenly a semi-transparent blue screen appeared before him.

Lanis had read about reincarnation stories before but for it to actually happen to him was overwhelming.

As he read the new screen, he was delighted. Stealing skills from others was easily one of the most powerful abilities he had read about and he already saw himself becoming just like the other OP main characters who had similar abilities.

None

A blue screen with "Skills" at the Top of the screen and a large blank area with only a bullet that said none appeared before Lanis. Right after he finished looking at this screen another appeared above it.

Before Lanis could think about his bright future for much longer, information started going through his head at incredible speeds.

Lanis blinked before he blacked out from his mind being overloaded with information. As he woke up he tried to digest the information he had gotten.

Lanis was in a different world then earth. It was a world where mana flowed around you at all times making incredibly strong mages and warriors as well as deadly mana beasts. He saw legends of spells that could blow apart mountains, people traveling thousands of miles through a portal or running faster than anything humans on earth had ever created.

He had also learned the common language and how to read it. However, when he really thought about it, he didn't know much more than he did before. He had no idea where he was, all he knew was that to start gaining strength the first step would be the same as everyone else, making his mana core.

Lanis stood perfectly still as he tried to feel the mana around him. After an hour he finally felt something, it felt like invisible water droplets suspended and floating in the air. He tried to grab one but it simply bounced off his hand and as he lost focus, he couldn't sense them anymore. It was much easier the second time and only took him 30 minutes to feel the mana around him. This time he waited for a droplet to float towards him and as it hit his skin, he "pulled" it inside himself.

Once the mana was inside his body it naturally followed his blood stream and started gathering near his heart. He spent hours repeating the process until all the droplets he had collected formed together to make a hollow sphere made of mana.

Lanis had nothing to compare this feat to but he assumed he must be pretty talented anyway. He knew that cores went from hollow, bronze, silver, gold, then platinum. With 10 ranks in each category and to move up you had to fill your mana core and make it dense enough to change colors.

Now that Lanis had finished his first step he finally realized how tired he was. He had worked through the whole day and most of the night and was extremely tired. He propped himself against a tree and finally went to sleep.

When he woke up, Lanis was very thirsty. He had no idea where to go so he simply picked a direction and followed it. His luck was great as he soon heard a stream and got to drink as much water as he wanted.

Lanis soon left the stream as he continued through the forest, he knew he needed to find food soon or he would begin to starve. He was wondering what his steps should be if he gathered more mana. Hunting would be easier but if he wasn't able to find food soon after taking the time to get stronger through mana, he would be in trouble.

As Lanis was thinking this he heard something behind him and turned to see a kobold, a strange two-legged reptilian creature with a long snout that was much shorter than him. Lanis was still very nervous as the kobold held a long stick fashioned into a spear and what looked to be leather Armour on his chest.

The kobold and Lanis stared at each other before the kobold started screaming and pointed the spear directly at him. Of course, Lanis had no idea what the kobold was saying but he got the idea it was meant to be threatening since the spear that the kobold was wielding kept getting closer/

Lanis started backing away more and more until he hit a tree. It was at this moment that the kobold made his move and tried to stab him. Lanis dodged the spear and gripped the end so the kobold couldn't use it as easily. The kobold and Lanis were in a tug of war. However, Lanis had a large size advantage and was able to rip the spear from the kobold.

The kobold's attitude changed very quickly as the moment he lost his spear, he tried to run. Lanis knew this was his chance as he ran the kobold down and thrust the spear into his back.

From these simple messages Lanis figured out a lot about his system, as he defeated enemy's he would gain some of their skills and depending on how much stronger they were from him it seemed he could even gain more than one.

Lanis twirled the spear around. It seemed lighter, more easily controlled and more balanced than he had expected. He instinctively understood a little about how to effectively use it.

Lanis Laughed as he thought about his future and how he would one day rule this world and wouldn't have to fear anyone or anything ever again.
