Lanis was in the exact position he wanted to be in, a one versus one battle with the large kobold. His grip tightened around his sword as he stared at the massive kobold
The chief snorted as he held his massive great sword over his head and charged at Lanis before swinging down aiming to cut him in two.
Lanis was surprised at how fast such a big body was able to move but he was still able to use dash and dodge it. The chief did not wait and immediately sent a horizontal slash straight towards Lanis's gut. Lanis took this opportunity to jump over the sword and aimed his sword at the chief's head.
The chief had low intelligence but he had fought plenty of battles and he instinctively knew he couldn't move his sword in time, so he dropped it and defended against Lanis with his forearm.
Lanis was shocked at how durable the chief's skin was but he still managed to make a decent cut on the arm with his sword. Seeing this, Lanis rolled away from the chief and picked up a spear from a nearby kobold's body.
Lanis then dodged another swing from the chief as he closed the distance and thrust the spear into the leg of the chief. The spear head managed to dig into the chief but the wooden shaft of the crudely made kobold spear shattered from the impact.
Lanis did not care as he backed away from the chief and prepared to continue.
The chief looked down to see his own blood flowing from the wound while the tip of the spear was still sticking out from his thigh He screamed in rage that he had taken a wound from such a tiny human. He bellowed towards the sky wanting to rip this stupid human in front of him in half. One of the kobolds, seeing how mad their chief was, started running at Lanis but as soon as he took two steps into the circle the Chief's eyes flashed as he cut the kobolds head from his body before sending a glare at every other kobold gathered around.
Lanis was happy that the chief was allowing his anger and pride to make his life so much easier since he may really be in trouble if the surrounding kobolds charged now.
The chief and Lanis continued to fight as the other Kobolds watched. The battle seemed to be coming at a slower pace as the chief was not able to land a hit on Lanis while he was still taking small cuts all over his body. However, Lanis was also growing tired as he had never been in such a long fight before, luckily his mana core already made him much stronger than any human on earth and he was able to fight longer than he expected.
"Hahaha I am sorry but it's really not fair, you just have the wrong opponent. How could you ever kill the main character so quick."
Lanis smiled as he dashed straight at the chief. The chief slashed at Lanis but he was taken back by how his swing didn't stop Lanis' charge at all and was still dodged. Lanis slashed the chief's leg as he ran by causing him to drop to one knee. Lanis picked up a dagger from a fallen kobold and threw it using his dagger skill.
The chief turned and swatted the dagger away as he stood. Lanis gave him no opening as he was in the air right behind the dagger.
The chief didn't have time to make any kind of defense and Lanis landed behind the chief, dagger spearing right into the heart. He gave a knowing look to all the kobolds as their chief's dead body collapsed behind him.

Lanis looked around the camp and found what looked like the loot from a dead human. There was a small backpack with a few coins but nothing else of interest. He filled the backpack with food, and grabbed a few knifes to throw as he started to once again move through the forest.
The next day, Lanis had been wondering the woods after killing the chief when he happened upon a road. After half a day of walking he finally saw his first human in this world. He walked up to the man who was riding a horse drawn cart and seemed to be a merchant and smiled.
"Good afternoon, sir, can you point me to the nearest town."
The man looked at Lanis and tilted his head slightly.
"How old are you kid?"
"I am 16 sir."
The man sighed as he shook his head.
"If you just follow this road, you should find a village in about a day. If you are going to continue following the road after that watch out for bandits, they will be especially hard on someone who is alone like you."
Although Lanis was very confused by some of the things the man said he decided to follow his directions after thanking him.
'Sad to see a young man alone in a forest.'
Watching Lanis walk away the man shook his head and sighed once more.
Unaware of what the merchant was thinking Lanis continued on his way. He did not run into any trouble and he didn't have to stop since he had enough supplies in his backpack. He just casually strolled down the road admiring the beauty of the new world he was in.
Eventually, he found the town he was looking for. The town was made in a large clearing of the forest. It had walls on all sides with watchtowers near its gates. There was not much traffic coming and going but Lanis had seen a few people on the road here.
When Lanis walked up to the gate, two guards were standing there opening and closing it for the travelers.
"State your name and purpose for entering the town" the guards questioned.
"My name is Lanis and I am just traveling, looking for more information and studying the surroundings."
The two guards looked at each other before one nodded at the other.
"Alright we will let you in but make sure not to cause any trouble or you will be kicked out; maybe worse, depending on your crime."
He bowed to the guards and thanked them before going into the town.
