Killing The Queen

'AMON WATCH YOUR BACK!'

Caxon warned Amon as he tried to get in front of the ants before they could attack Amon's back. These ants were much faster than the ants they had faced before and he was not fast enough to get in front of them in time.

He saw that Silver seemed to be fast enough to grab one of the ants by its legs and throw it against the wall. The queen didn't actively charge and instead swung its large mandibles around in anger.

This still left 4 ants charging at Amon from all angles, while he had confidence Amon wouldn't die from this it would either wound him heavily or use up most of his strength so Caxon had to intervene.

As the two ants behind Amon leaped towards him while they opened their mandibles to catch him inside Caxon finally made his move.

Two thin pillars sprung up in front of the jumping ants, since their feet were already off the ground, they did not have a chance to dodge and were stopped as they banged their heads into the weak constructions.

The pillars were made in haste with as little mana as he could use so they both collapsed as soon as they were hit, but it was still enough to stopped the ants in the air saving Amon.

It was also enough for him to catch up, while both of the ants were distracted by the pillars and their hate of Amon, Caxon decided to attack and decisively end the fight.

He imbued mana into his sword as he did before, making it glow in a golden color, as he swung his sword at the back of the closer ant. The ant sensed this and tried to block with his mandibles, but he was too slow. He was able to cut off the head of the ant before it could block him.

The other ant no longer attacked Amon, even though it wanted to protect the queen it couldn't let another fighter go just to attack the first one.

Caxon took this brief second to look at Amon's situation. The old man was facing the two ant guards in close combat while avoiding the spear like attacks from the queen. While he didn't seem to be overwhelmed, he still didn't have enough time to counter attack any one attacker and had to focus on defense. He also noticed that Amon was trying to attack with his shadow element but the ants seemed highly sensitive to mana and were able to dodge before the attacks even materialized.

He also looked at Silver's fight but it seemed that the ant guard he had picked was also very weak compared to other class 1 beasts so their fight was at a stalemate.

Caxon could not focus on his teammates anymore as the ant he was facing rushed at him.

The ant was fast but he was still able to defend in time. He attacked the ant with his mana sword but the ant's mandibles were strong enough not to be cut through with one swing. It was at this moment that he also noticed that both his sword and the ant's mandibles had taken some damage and he didn't know which would last longer.

As the ant and Caxon continued their exchange he soon realized that his sword would definitely give out before this ant's mandibles.

He decided to go for one large strike to hopefully tilt things in his favor. As soon as he got an opening Caxon infused more of his mana into his sword as it glowed in a brighter golden color.

He swung his sword with all his might, the ant could sense the danger but its only option was to defend with its mandibles once again.

As the sword clashed with the ant a golden light shined so bright that Caxon had to close his eyes.

When he opened them, he noticed that in his hands all that remained was a hilt. When he looked at the ant, he noticed that it was still standing. Not only was it still standing but it's mandibles were still intact however they had a large spider web crack in it.

Caxon was now in danger he looked around for a way out, Amon and Silver were both still fighting however they had both seemed to be gaining the advantage. He knew that they wouldn't be able to help him fast enough and he was in danger, the only other thing he saw was the ant he had killed and the weak ants that Amon had killed instantly when the fight started.

Caxon's eye lit up as he had a plan. Using most of what little mana he had left he summoned the one friend who had been neglected in the recent battles.

Since blob didn't consume flesh Caxon had no idea how to make him more powerful, because of this it was a weak beast even when compared to ordinary beasts so Caxon rarely used it and only summoned it because he liked to play with the cute slime when he didn't need mana.

'Sorry buddy.'

Caxon did not hesitate to throw the sticky slime at the ant.

Sensing the incoming projectile, the ant chomped it with his mandibles. Blob exploded on the ant's face and ground as it was instantly killed.

The ant tried to charge at him but was stuck to the ground, however it was still a strong class 1 beast and an unclassed slime would not be enough to stop it.

However, the ant was slowed down and this was all that he had wanted, he smiled at the ant as he turned...

and ran away.

The ant was furious that he had let the human go as Caxon ran towards the queen. The ant gave chase as soon as it was free of the slime.

The ant caught up to him right as the human seemed to trip and fell to the ground. The ant seeing the defenseless human on the ground opened its mandibles hoping to cut the human in half and move on to the other intruders.

Unfortunately for the ant Caxon had not tripped. He simply knelt on the ground near the first ant's dead body.

As the ant approached him, he stood with a dead ant's head in his hand and used the jaws of the dead ant to pierce the skull the attacking ant.

The lights in the second guards' eyes went out as its body went limb and flopped on the ground.

Caxon ripped the mandibles in half so he only had one half that he could use as a sword instead of like shears. He used this to help Silver beat his opponent before the two went to finish Amon's fight.

With all three attackers the guard ant did not stand a chance and in less than a minute the queen was the only ant alive.

The queen was clearly afraid as she wildly swung her mandibles from side to side in front of her hoping to fend off the humans.

'Young master I don't feel comfortable with you being by yourself for an extended period of time so as soon as you have enough mana make sure to bring me back alright.'

'Of course, Amon, I will feel weird without you in my shadow, don't worry you can still communicate through our soul bond even if you aren't summoned so I will let you know if anything happens.'

With this Amon closed his eyes for a second as the air around him seemed to darken and swirl.

Suddenly a massive black spike the same size as the queen made of pure shadow appeared below the ant, the queen was not fast enough to dodge and was pinned to the ceiling before she stopped struggling and died.

As soon as the spike appeared Amon's eyes closed and his body fell to the ground before fading into dust. He had used every last bit of mana in his core to the point it had made him pass out and Caxon would be forced to resummon him.

He could have maintained Amon's body with his own mana but he was currently out of mana as well so he would have to wait for it to come back so he could bring Amon back at a later time.

He wanted to pass out right now but he had one task before he would be able to do that.

'Silver lets destroy these eggs so we don't get eaten in our sleep.'

After the two destroyed every ant egg in the room the Caxon fell asleep while Silver laid down so they both could recover their strength.
