New dungeon

Thankfully, where Emma had to go was near Alan's home. He only had to help them barbecue the meat. Blood was for a pet, a small black cat that drank blood. As if that could surprise Alan.

There were not many people. Only two other people were there with Emma. Both females. You might expect any normal man would feel happy to have dinner with three beautiful ladies. Yes, that would be correct. But Alan was not normal.

He was sitting around eating while concentrating on a different thing.

'System, are you sure that there is a dungeon here?'

[It is not a dungeon host. It is a spatial portal spillover phenomenon. It might have been caused by a dungeon gate but other things can also cause this. And yes, there is a phenomenon taking place near here.]

This was interesting. Alan was hoping to go to a dungeon. After all, he has a system now. The only dungeon that was supposed to be near Saphhire hills was tens of kilometres away. But suddenly the system warned him of a new dungeon. This was great news for him. An unexplored dungeon was dangerous, but it was also worth a lot.

He knew what a spatial spillover phenomenon was. It was just a fancy way to say there was a portal and mana was spilling over from a dungeon onto the earth. Most portal usually leads to a dungeon while some lead to broken spaces.

Contrary to what you expect, a dungeon in this world was different from a game world. It is not a place where you could go inside and hunt monsters to level up. There was no fictional type of levelling up. You could only go inside, a dungeon with a higher concentration of mana to learn new skills and improve the mana density inside the body. That intern makes you stronger, prolong your life and gives you power.

And dungeon did not have a limit on how many people can enter at the same time, It could support as many people that can physically fit inside it. Every dungeon was a huge closed space with different densities of atmospheric mana. This determines what kind of monsters will be spawned inside and what type of resources are obtainable.

The only S rank dungeon found was said to be bigger than the moon, likely reaching the surface area of the earth. Dungeons like that are practically a different world altogether. While some other dungeons were as small as some islands.

So, dungeons come in different sizes, shapes and even in different types of biomes. The only thing that determine the dungeons rank was the ambient mana present in its atmosphere. But rank doesn't completely determine how dangerous a dungeon can be. That was why most mutant went to cleared dungeons that are completely explored. Having enough information was paramount to their survival.

You might have wondered why there weren't many mutants on earth. The reason was simple, dungeons were the best place a mutant could live. So, they were usually exploring dungeons, making money while getting stronger.

Alan was thrilled to gain knowledge of a new dungeon appearing near his home. This will boost the town's economy and completely change the landscape. But the spilt over mana would cause problems too. Mutant animals will flock near here from now on.

Looking at the smiling B ranked mutants before him, Eating, chewing on the barbecue. He had a thought.

'Maybe, I am not the only one who knew about the new dungeon. Sigh! Mana spillovers are that not hard to detect.'

"Emma, why did you bring a guy with you. This is not like you. Did you finally fall in love or is it some kind of one-night stand? Just thinking about tonight, how exciting." A girl with blue hair chirped.

She was asking pointy questions to Emma hoping for a spicey answer.

"Don't think too much. He is the guy I was giving a lift to. He came to dinner because I invited him." Emma shrugged off the accusation coldly.

"YOU INVITED HIM! Oh! This is getting interesting."

At glance, you can see that Emma was the leader of the group of three. Although they didn't exactly tell what they were doing on Sapphire hill, Alan guessed that they are here for the dungeon. He left the system to scan them.

The result was surprising, the three people before him were B rank mutants. Some of the top-level people in this world. Even though their attitude towards life was questionable, Alan admired them. No one is born as a B rank mutant. It takes years of effort to reach there even with the use of an astonishing amount of resources.

The blue haired girl slowly crept towards Alan who was barbecuing. Her name was Esther. She slowly went near his ear and asked in a seductive voice.

"Alan, Do you have a girlfriend?"

"No."

"Do you want to sleep with me?"

"Huh!" She went from zero to hundred in a second baffling Alan. He looked at her in astonishment and said.

"Yes. But not today! Thanks for the meal." Saying that he quickly took his luggage and scurried out of their house. He would have lost control if he had stayed a moment more on this house.

'What a vixen?'

You shouldn't mess with a B rank. Don't antagonise, run for your life. Remembering the warnings from the system, he dashed away towards his home.

Esther turned to Emma and the booze chugging friend, Frida.

"I should have waited until the meat was cooked."

Alan finally reached home.

Ringing the bell hanging in front of the house, he waited.

He didn't know what to do. Although he had faced his new family before, knowing all too well that he isn't the son they were expecting made his heart ache.

But, he smiled seeing a sleepy man opening the door.

"You are home, did you have dinner? There is some food on the dining table." The old grey-haired man invited Alan inside his home warmly. It was half-past ten, even after informing them that he would be late. Alan's father and mother were waiting for him.

'Maybe this is what having a family is like.' A warm feeling welled up inside him, warning to spilling through his eyes.
