Chapter 16 - Crafting

Alex didn't pause for long before clicking 'yes' on the quest.

[You have accepted quest Daryl's Dream.]

"Haha, you can trust me on this one. The blade has been bundled with me so I'm not pulling a fast one over you."

"Look feel," Alex said as he threw the dagger toward Daryl as if he was throwing trash away.

Daryl instinctively raises his hands to catch the incoming dagger taking it into his hands. Only then did he overcome the slight fear of the unknown as his face told a story of 1000 words.

"Hahaha, you really are crazy you know."

"Well, I guess you have to be to come all the way out here to find me to craft for you. Well, you got it, kid. Follow me into the back."

Lifting up a blanket of some sort that separated the two rooms Alex moved into the backroom only to be met with the sight of a state of the art crafting bench with every tool necessary to craft in The World Of Divinity. From the cauldron to light metal to the hammer station and so forth.

In his previous life although he heard about Daryl and this quest, he one didn't know how to activate it nor did he know about his crafting skills from a face to face point of view.

From a fanatic that picked up crafting as a secondary profession in his previous life and although he couldn't exactly be called the most talented had his fair share of knowledge from interacting with the best of the best in the profession due to standing at the top of the game for multiple years.

As a result of this, he knew his way around the crafting bench and was by no means a beginner. In fact, you could call him a grandmaster of a sort. Especially at this point in time in the game.

"Listen, kid, don't interrupt once I start or you'll only cause the weapon to default. I won't take the blame for that."

"Wouldn't dream of it," Alex replied promptly as he took a seat on the stool in the corner.

[You have accepted the quest: Daryl's dream.]

[Reward upon completion: ???]

A series of hammer sounds start to rain down upon the room like Zeus himself descended upon the mortal world. Sounds that could only be described as thunderous shook the room to the very core. Yet in all of this chaos the burning eyes of determination that was lit ablaze guided the chaos onto the blade.

'Steady.. incredibly steady.' That's the only thought Alex got from Daryl crafting. He wasn't rushed to finish and he didn't lack in timing either. It was no wonder he became the lower realms number one blacksmith by the end of the war.

As time passed the passion in Daryls eyes only seemed to grow brighter and brighter until the remaining few pounds of his hammer then he lifted the blade and soaked it in cold iced water to the side of the bench. Only to be met with a sizzling sound then followed by a glow of yellowish-orange that marked the birth of an EPIC weapon.

"HAHAHAHA."

"Boy, I did it, an EPIC weapon Hahaha."

Pure bliss followed as Alex could see the pent up frustration of not progressing after so long being washed away anew from Daryl's face. He seemed to grow younger as the built-up stress was set free.

"Congratulations grandmaster."

"Haha now now, stop with the ass-kissing," Daryl replied all though he clearly seem to radiate pride at that very moment.

"Kid this could be said to come from you being able to solve the curse that has plagued the dagger from the moment I set my hands upon it. As such I have to reward you."

"Here take this." Daryl unconcerned about the follow up threw a diary of some sorts over to Alex as he caught it.

"I can tell you have some knowledge of the craft. Either you craft yourself or you might be able to guide someone one day. Anyways take my life's notes up to this point and do well by them. You could say that is my very foundation."

"This..."

Alex knew of course about the reward however having not been able to get his hands on the item in his past life didn't know about the back story of the item.

[Book of Forging.]

"Haha, what's there to be so sentimental about." Daryl replied as he continued "You just opened up a gate for me on my crafting path that I now know is only the start. So what's good about a couple of pieces of notes on paper."

"Thank you," Alex replied in gratitude as he store the item and turned towards the dagger that was now laid out on the bench.

"Nature's wrath huh," Alex muttered as he gazed down at the new finished product.

What could only be described as slightly demonic? The handle was of course still the same however the blade now had a deep metallic black that had a tinge of red that was almost blood-like. It was sharp to a touch, ready to claim life.

"It really is fitting to be a EPIC weapon."

[Natures wrath.]
